Samsung began rolling out One UI 4.0 stable update based on Android 12 starting with the Galaxy S21 series globally yesterday. The company also confirmed that the update will be available for older Galaxy S and Note series as well as Galaxy Z series, A series and tablets soon. One of the highlight features of Android 12 is its ability to create and set a custom system-wide theme that is based on the phone’s wallpaper. At the moment, the feature is only supported on Pixel devices. However, that may change soon as other manufacturers are said to introduce dynamic theme support in their smartphones too.

Google, last month, officially unveiled Android 12 and started rolling out Android 12 Stable updates for eligible Pixel smartphones. Xiaomi had also announced Android 12 Public Beta for some of its flagship range devices including Mi 11 Ultra, Mi 11, and Mi 11 (Mi 11X Pro in India). Now, the Chinese smartphone giant seems to be gearing up to bring Android 12 to more handsets.

ASUS has confirmed the Android 12 roll out schedule for its Zenfone and ROG phone models, soon after Google rolled out Android 12 update for its Pixel devices. ASUS said that it has already recruited Zenfone 8 users for the Android 12 beta testing program, which will help identify and fix bugs based on real user experiences before the final software that will roll out in December. iQOO today confirmed the Android 12 Beta rollout timeline for its smartphones – iQOO 7, iQOO 7 Legend, iQOO Z3, iQOO Z5 and iQOO 3. Even though it rolls out for most smartphones in December 201, iQOO 3 users will have to wait till March, 2022 to get the update. The company said that the update will offer an enhanced smartphone experience in combination with Android 12 Beta. Google has finally pushed Android 12 stable update for the Pixel phones after pushing the source to AOSP project earlier this month. This comes after the final beta 5 was released last month. OPPO today launched the ColorOS 12, the next major update based on Android 12 for its smartphone in an online event, as it had announced. OPPO said that ColorOS 6 was pushed to 65 million users, 100 million users got ColorOS 7, and last year’s ColorOS 11 was pushed to 115 million users, and this year the company is aiming even higher for the ColorOS 12. It said that there are over 440 million ColorOS users worldwide in 68 countries as of July 2021 which is 19% YoY growth from 2020. Microsoft today released Windows 11, the next major Windows update, as it had promised. As announced earlier, this is a free upgrade to Windows 10 users. Microsoft already confirmed that Windows 11 requires your device to be running on Intel 8th generation or AMD Zen 2 processors and later, but it won’t block manual installation using an ISO. It also announced a major update policy, specifically, for OPPO devices that were launched from 2019 onwards. realme has confirmed that it will launch realme UI 3.0, the next major OS update based on Android 12 will be introduced globally on October 13, a couple of days after the launch of OPPO’s ColorOS 12. We still don’t have the list of features, but we can expect design changes for icons, wallpapers, and layouts, and new functions related to media output and navigation.
