Idea Cellular has launched a new Easy Share prepaid plan that comes with internet, Local & National Minutes and SMS benefits. This plan lets users transfer internet packs, minutes and SMS to their friends and families, through a simple process of USSD or from Idea website. It start from Rs. 158 and goes till Rs. 958 depending on the plan. Last year it launched Easy Share postpaid plan in some markets, due to its success this has extended to the large base of prepaid users now, says the company.

LG G Flex 2 launches in the UK March 19, pre-orders open Feb 12

Vodafone India has announced it has applied to the country’s central bank for a permit to operate a payments bank as the world’s largest network looks to bring basic banking service to its millions of Indian customers. Goodbye Orange and T-Mobile In The UK

As expected for quite some time, EE have today confirmed that the Orange and T-Mobile brands are now officially closing in the UK. In an interview with Mobile News, EE Chief Commercial Officer Marc Allera confirmed that EE will no longer sell Orange and T-Mobile contracts directly and indirect channels will stop sales in a months’ time on March 2nd. Airtel partners with Nokia Networks for FDD-LTE deployment in 6 circles in India

Airtel has partnered with Nokia Networks to deploy FDD-LTE on 1800 MHz in six new (Mumbai, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Punjab and West Bengal) circles across India, as expected. Last year Nokia Networks grabbed a 3G contract from Bharti Airtel that included India-first dual band, dual carrier 3G network implementation. Three UK to buy O2 UK for £9.25 billion

Since BT confirmed they were in talks to buy EE and not O2, there’s been a lot of rumours that Three UK owner Hutchinson Whampoa Limited (HWL) would attempt to acquire O2 in a bid to strengthen its UK position. This morning the company have issued a press release confirming they are in exclusive talks to buy O2 UK from Spanish parent Telefónica, S.A. in a deal worth £9.25 billion. Vodafone India today announced that Sunil Sood will replace Marten Pieters as the company’s Chief Operating Officer. Current CEO Marten Pieters will step down as Managing Director and Chief Executive of Vodafone India from 1st April 2015, however he will continue to remain on the Board of Vodafone India in a non-executive capacity, said the company. Nokia Networks reportedly bags Rs. 1240 crore 4G contract from Airtel

Nokia Networks has bagged Rs 1,240 crore ($200 million) contract from Bharti Airtel to build 4G network in the 1800 MHz band in six telecom circles, according to ET.  Airtel will soon announce the deal that will cover Mumbai, MP, West Bengal, Odisha, Punjab and Kerala circles, according the report.

Vodafone 4G now available to 50% of UK population

The slow and steady rollout of Vodafone’s 4G network has progressed with the network now offering 4G coverage to 50% of the UK population. Less than a week after EE revealed it offers 4G to 80% of the population, Vodafone UK CEO Jeroen Hoencamp defended the 4G rollout by saying they were focusing on reliability over speed.
