Sony Xperia Tablet Z Hands On

At its press event in Barcelona, Sony showed off its brand new Android tablet, the Sony Xperia Tablet Z. Equipped with a gorgeous 10.1″ WUXGA display, the tablet also has Sony’s Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 built in.

The screen with a resolution of 1900 x 1200 looks absolutely stunning especially when the Mobile Bravia engine kicks in for photos and videos. Sony Xperia Z Photo Gallery

Sony unveiled the Xperia Z, their flagship smartphone at the CES 2013 last month. We brought you the Xperia ZL photo gallery last month, we managed to get our hands on the Xperia Z at the MWC 2013. LG Optimus F7 Hands On

LG showed off its new F7 handset here at the Mobile World Congress. The handset is a part of their upper middle range strategy and has a large 4.7″ 720p display.

The screen is of the IPS variety and offers pretty good viewing angles. We quite liked the feel of the device with runs on Android 4.1.2 though it would benefit from the use of slightly higher end materials. Continue reading “LG Optimus F7 Hands On”

GSMA Global Mobile Awards 2013 Winners announced


The GSM Association has announced the winners for the 18th annual Global Mobile Awards at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The nominees for the Global Mobile Awards 2013 were announced earlier this month. Even though the Apple for iPhone 5 was a tough contender  in the best smartphone segment, the Samsung Galaxy S3 bagged the Best Smartphone of the Year award. Google Nexus 7 grabbed the Best Mobile Tablet of the year award beating the iPad and the iPad mini, and the Nokia Asha 305 won the best entry-level / feature phone award. Part of Samsung’s entry level Android phone range, the Samsung Galaxy Young sports a 3.27 inch display with  a resolution of 480 x 320 pixels. The capacitive display is multi touch capable.

Samsung Galaxy Express Hands On

Here at the Mobile World Congress, Samsung showcased its product portfolio that includes the Galaxy Express. One of its newest phones, it has a 4.5 inch Super AMOLED Plus capactive screen which looks quite nice though slightly blurred out because of the low pixel density.

The size of the phone is on the larger side but it manages to fit in well in the hand. The smooth curves mean that it fits comfortably well in the hand though the cheap plastic used doesn’t look too good.  Continue reading “Samsung Galaxy Express Hands On”

Walking through the Samsung booth at the Mobile World Congress we ran into the Samsung Fame. Part of the new budget range of Android handsets, the phone looks quite interesting.

Nokia 301 hands on impressions

The Nokia 301 is one of the two low end feature phones that Nokia announced at the Mobile World Congress 2013. The 301 is not just a feature phone but a feature rich phone, made for the ever hungry budget user, wanting for more features with as little expenditure possible. According to us, the Nokia 301 fits that bill very well. Nokia Lumia 520 Hands On

We brought you the Nokia Lumia 520 photo gallery and having spent a bit more time with the handset, here’s our first hands on impressions of the phone. The Lumia 520 packs in 1Ghz Dual Core Qualcomm processor combined with 512MB RAM which delivers decent performance.

MWC Day 1 Round Up Video

We’re just about to begin with day 2 at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona but decided to do a round up of all that’s gone down so far. On day 1 we saw Nokia launch four new products targeting the budget segment. The Nokia 105 which is a 15 Euro phone with a month of standby time and the Nokia Lumia 720 with a f1.9 camera particularly stood out from the rest of the devices.

Moving on, we had Sony announce its Xperia Tablet Z. A 10″ tablet with a full HD screen. It is powered by a now fairly standard quad core processor. LG showed off the Optimus G Pro, the successor to the Optimus G announced last year. Specifications include a full HD display and a Snapdragon S4 quad core processor. LG L3 II and L7 II were some of the other phones announced.

Asus had a very interesting device to reveal at MWC. The FonePad with a 7″ screen also has an integrated dialer which means that it can also be used as a phone if  you so wish. Also revealed was the Padfone Infinity which brings a full HD display on both the 5″ phone and the 10″ tablet that it slides into. ZTE had the Grand Memo with a massive 5.7″ Full HD display and powered by the Snapdragon 800 processor making it one of the first devices to run on the new chipset. So that was day 1 at the Mobile World Congress. We’ve got three more days to go and lots more to cover!

LG Optimus L3 II Dual Photo Gallery

LG unveiled the Optimus L3 II and the Dual SIM variant, Optimus L3 II dual ahead of MWC 2013 last week. LG showcased these devices at the MWC, and we go some hands-on time with the device. This is just a dual SIM variant of the Optimus L3 II and comes with a dedicated SIM switch button just like the previous LG’s dual SIM phones, the Optimus L3 Dual and the Optimus Net Dual.
