Samsung Galaxy Fame Hands On

Walking through the Samsung booth at the Mobile World Congress we ran into the Samsung Fame. Part of the new budget range of Android handsets, the phone looks quite interesting.
The screen is 3.5 inches in size and has a resolution of 480×320 pixels. The phone runs Android 4.1 JellyBean.

The phone has an 11mm thick profile and weighs in at about 120 grams. The phone feels quite good in the hand due to the curved edges but the plastic feels quite cheap.
The phone runs the same TouchWiz interface as seen on most  Samsung devices. A VGA front facing camera is also provided for video calls.

A brushed aluminum like band runs around the phone. You can find the volume rocker on the left side oh the phone.

The right side of the phone has only the power key towards the top of the device. The power key is very easy to reach and aids one handed usage.
The phone runs on a 1Ghz processor and has 512MB of RAM. Inbuilt storage is a bit less at just 4GB but you can expand it up to 64GB via microSD cards. The back of the phone has a 5MP camera with autofocus and LED flash.  The battery pack is a 1300 mAh unit.  The Galaxy Fame is available in pearl white and metallic blue colors. We quite liked the diminutive handset but aren’t too sure about the TouchWiz interface layer on it.
