Xiaomi is popular for its Mi Band fitness bands and has also released Amazfit smartwatches in partnership with Huami. Now, the latest Wear OS companion app tear down has revealed that Xiaomi might be working on a smartwatch powered by Google’s Wear OS platform, according to a new report.
Xiaomi’s Redmi brand launched the Redmi 8A smartphone in India earlier this week. It has a large 6.22-inch HD+ screen and packs a 5000mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging at a price of Rs. 6499. Here we have the first impressions of the phone. Xiaomi’s Redmi brand just launched the Redmi 8A, the company’s latest budget smartphone in India, as it had promised. It has a 6.22-inch HD+ 19:9 aspect ratio display with Dot Notch and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection, is powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 439 SoC with up to 3GB RAM and runs Android Pie with MIUI 10 on top. It has a 12-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. The phone doesn’t have a fingerprint sensor, but comes with face unlock.
Along with the new smartphones and TV, Xiaomi at the China event also introduced the Mi AirDots Pro 2 with Bluetooth 5.0 and LDHC Hi-Res audio codec, smart voice controls, dual microphones for ENC, which is environmental noise cancellation. It also has 14.2mm drivers for better audio output. It automatically connects with the phone running MIUI when you open the case and pick up the earphones.
Update: September 24, 2019 – Xiaomi has resumed roll out after it was paused recently. This has new 10.3.5.0 build number and includes Android security patch for September, 2019. Those who had already downloaded it previously, will not receive this update, said the company. Some are getting a 178MB update with just the security patch. The phone has minimal bezels on the top and bottom, and ditches the physical side buttons, instead it relies on display acoustic technology replacing the traditional earpiece receiver and proximity sensor while the device’s sides are pressure-sensitive and leverage a linear motor to simulate the touch of real buttons. It has anti-false-touch technology that deactivates the non-active area, allowing dynamic allocation of touch commands.
At an event in China, Xiaomi also introduced MIUI 11, the company’s next-generation UI for its smartphone that brings brand new optimized modern UI design focused on content viewing. At the forefront of typography innovation, MIUI 11 revamps Xiaomi’s visual design by offering a brand-new font, ‘Milan Pro’, and introduces the world’s first dynamic font scaling feature. Xiaomi just announced the Mi 9 Pro 5G, the company’s latest flagship smartphone as it had promised. It has a 6.39-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection and 90.7% screen to body ratio since it has 3.6mm small chin, same as the Mi 9, but this is is powered by the latest Snapdragon 855 Plus 7nm Mobile Platform with Snapdragon X50 5G modem and support for 7-antenna 5G bands for improved signal reception. The phone features download speed of up to 2.02Gbps (lab) and 1.78Gbps (field test), is 10 times faster than Mi 9, says the company. It also has special, customized L shaped vapor chamber cooling system, compared to the Mi 9, so the processor’s core temperature can be reduced by 10.2 °C. It has up to 12GB of RAM and runs Android 9.0 (Pie) with MIUI on top.
Xiaomi just announced its Mi Full Screen TV Pro series in 43-inch, 55-inch and 65-inch 4K TV range at an event in China. These have new Amologic 12nm T972 chip jointly developed by Xiaomi and Amlogic, has quad-core A55 processor architecture with up to 1.9GHz clock speed that promises 63% better performance and up to 55% improved power efficiency. This also enables support for 8K video playback, thanks to 9th generation image processing engine. These have narrow bezel full screen design with up to 97% screen-to-body ratio, aluminum alloy frame, metal base and 3D kevlar back design.

Xiaomi’s Redmi brand launched its flagship Redmi K20 Pro smartphone back in July. The company launched two storage variants of K20 Pro – 6GB+128GB priced at Rs. 27,999 and 8+256GB priced at Rs. 30,999. Now, for the Flipkart Big Billion Day Sale 2019, Redmi K20 Pro receives a temporary price cut and alongside the K20 Pro, Redmi Note 7S also receives a temporary price cut.
Xiaomi already confirmed that it will introduce new Mi MIX 5G concept phone on September 24th along with Mi 9 Pro 5G. Today Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun shared an image of the Mi MIX Alpha with a curved screen with high screen-to-body ratio. He also confirmed that it is not the foldable phone that was showcased earlier this year, and other teaser confirmed this.
