Sony Mobile India has started their big Xperia Xchange offer assured Rs. 5000 discount on the Xperia Z or ZL in  exchange your old smartphones. Samsung launched a similar Smart upgrade offer for the Galaxy Note 2 and the Galaxy S4. Sony launched the Xperia Z and the ZL in India earlier this year. Both these phones have a 5-inch Full HD (1920×1080 pixels) Reality display, powered by 1.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8064 processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). The Xperia Z comes with  IP55 and IP57 ratings for dust and water resistance and the Xperia ZL lacks the feature. Motorola has started sending out invites to the media in the U.S. for the Moto X press event scheduled on August 1st in New York City . The company officially teased the phone earlier this month as the first smartphone that you can design yourself. It also said that Designed by you . Assembled in the USA. Earlier this week Motorola posted a photo of the phone being  assembled in the USA, so the phone may go on sale in the U.S soon after the launch. Micromax launched its first device in the Canvas back in August 2012 , calling it the Superfone Canvas A100. The Micromax A110 Superfone Canvas 2 launched 3 months later in November. Micromax lost the Superfone tag soon after the second canvas device. The A116 Canvas HD, the company’s first smartphone with a HD display made a debut earlier this year. Micromax launched fourth device in the Canvas series is aptly named the Canvas 4 with a model number A210. One thing that is common in all the Canvas devices is the 5-inch display. Reliance cuts 3G data rates, offers 1GB of 3G data at Rs. 123

Reliance Communications (RCom) has reduced the 3G rates by half for both the pre-paid and post-paid customers. Now 1GB of 3G data costs Rs. 123. The 2GB and 4GB 3G packs now cost Rs 246 and Rs 492 respectively. All these come with 30 days validity. The new rates are applicable in all the 13 circles across India. Recently Vodafone, Airtel, Idea and Videocon reduced 2G data rates. ZTE Grand X Quad Lite with 5 inch qHD display launched in India for Rs. 14,999

Apart from five low to mid range smartphones that ZTE launched today, in India, the Chinese manufacturer has also revealed its flagship device. The flagship device, although falling in the similar mid range price bracket, has matching specs with the current crop of 5 inch devices that are doing the rounds in the market. Equipped with a 5 inch qHD screen and a quad core processor, ZTE hopes to peg this as the phone to get from its portfolio for the Indian consumers. That said, ZTE seems to really acknowledge the fact that in India, the volume is in mid range. Let us take a look at the specifications of the device then.

ZTE launches a range of low to mid end smartphones in India

ZTE has announced its arrival to the Indian market at an event in Mumbai today with an onslaught of a total of six devices and four 3G data cards. With these new devices, the Chinese mobile giant aims to capture some marketshare and mind share in the world’s second fastest growing smartphone market. While data has proven that the smartphone market is just a miniscule part of the whole mobile phone market in India, it is indeed growing faster than any other. This lucrative opportunity has provided us, the consumers with a lot of choices and that includes various Chinese companies like Gionee, Huawei, Lenovo and now ZTE. The company has launched four mid range devices in the Blade range as a part of their complete portfolio roll out.

Halo: Spartan Assault lands on the Windows Phone and Windows 8 Stores

Halo has been a celebrated game franchise that was popularized during the original Xbox era. People had longed for a similar gaming experience on other Microsoft devices as the company slowly brought their different divisions together, and to much surprise, Microsoft’s own 343 game studio announced Halo: Spartan Assault for Windows 8 and Windows Phone. A trailer that was revealed along with the announcement showed off a much different type of gameplay, based in the Halo universe. In the latest turn of events, Samsung has teased an updated Exynos 5 Octa SoC through their Twitter account. This updated Exynos 5 Octa is expected to feature in one of the variants of the Galaxy Note 3. The image posted by Samsung suggests an evolved SoC from the previous generation. According to the image, the already powerful Exynos 5 Octa is getting even more powerful and enhanced.

Xolo launched the Q1000, the company’s latest flagship in the ‘Q CORE’ series back in May. Celkon had also launched the A119Q Signature HD, successor of the A119 Signature HD back in May. We review both the Q1000 and the A119Q recently since these had similar features such as 5-inch HD display, quad-core processor and Android 4.2.1 (Jelly Bean). Even though Xolo has come up with a Tegra 3-powered Xolo Play T1000, Celkon is yet to released their next flagship device. Both these devices are priced under Rs. 15,000.  We managed to compare both these devices.

Users in UK and France got the update earlier this week. The update brings lot of new features including a new lock screen widget, quick settings panel, battery level indicator in the status bar and lots more. Nokia Q2 2013 results out, 7.4 million Lumia smartphones shipped

Nokia just published it’s Quarter 2 2013 results and posted an operating loss of EUR 115 million over revenues of Eur 5.695 billion. The device and services division in particular had losses to the tune of Eur 33 million which is below than expected. The Nokia Siemens (NSN) division made Eur 8 million over the last quarter which helped offset losses from other arms of the Finnish company. We also recently saw that the Nokia Lumia 520 has risen to the position of being the most popular Windows Phone in the world, and had hoped that it reflect positively on the results. Looks like it has indeed happened with them announcing a grand total of 7.4 million units of Lumia smartphones sold this quarter, which is up from 5.6 million last quarter.
