iQOO 15: 2K 144Hz Samsung OLED screen, Q3 chip confirmed

iQOO has officially unveiled several key features of its upcoming flagship smartphone, the iQOO 15, at a recent e-sports performance technology communication meeting in China. The announcement focused on advancements in display technology, a new self-developed gaming chip, and overall performance enhancements.

Display and Visual Technology

The iQOO 15 is set to feature a 2K Samsung “Everest” display, which reportedly incorporates the world’s first M14 luminescent material and 2K LEAD OLED display technology. The company highlights that this screen boasts a 98.1% first-frame brightness ratio and a 40% increase in luminous efficiency.

Additionally, the display offers a 1 nit eye-protection soft light mode and supports manual peak brightness adjustments up to 1000 nits. The screen provides a 2K resolution with 508 PPI and is certified for Dolby Vision. It also introduces what is described as “Eye Protection 2.0.” For gaming, the display is equipped with a 144Hz refresh rate and a maximum instantaneous touch sampling rate of 3200Hz.

Self-Developed Gaming Chip

A significant point of the announcement was the introduction of the self-developed Q3 gaming chip, which iQOO claims ushers in the “era of mobile graphics cards.” The company states that the Q3 is the industry’s first independent display chip to integrate “super-resolution, super-frame, and ray tracing” capabilities.

Manufactured using TSMC’s ultra-low power process, the chip is said to deliver a 60% performance improvement, a 40% improvement in energy efficiency, a 50% increase in cache, and a 400% improvement in AI capabilities.

Gaming Performance and Ecosystem

The new device will also feature the QNSS super rendering engine. This engine is claimed to support the industry’s first fully developed ray tracing engine for large-scale open-world mobile games. Specific performance claims were made for several titles, including PC-level super-resolution for Naraka: Bladepoint and the ability to maintain 2K resolution and 144FPS for an hour in CrossFire: Gun King. iQOO also stated its intent to build a robust gaming ecosystem, with announced support for super-resolution and interpolation in over 180 games and deep collaborations with seven additional titles.

The company already stated that the iQOO 15 will be positioned as a “super performance flagship,” equipped with additional features such as a periscope telephoto lens, wireless charging, and a new motor configuration.
