HTC One SV gets the Android 4.2.2 and Sense 5.0 update

HTC has started rolling out the Android 4.2.2 update (v3.11.401.1) for the International variant of the One SV starting from Croatia and other European countries. This bring Sense 5, BlinkFeed , Quick settings and lots more features. Complete changelog of the update is not available yet. Even though the phone did not launch in India, it is a good thing that HTC is bringing the Android 4.2 update for devices powered by a dual-core processor. HTC One Mini Camera samples

HTC announced the mini version of their flagship back in July, but it has been available only recently. HTC One was a flagship known for its exceptional build quality and Boom sound speakers on the front of the device which have been retained in the HTC One Mini. HTC One Mini, as the name suggests is a smaller version of the company’s flagship with slightly stripped down specifications. Apart from the build and the downgraded specifications, the HTC One Mini also retains the 4MP UltraPixel camera from the One, but without OIS(Optical Image Stabilization).

HTC One Mini Photo Gallery

HTC One is probably one of the best built android smartphones out there and so HTC decided to bring out a smaller version and bigger version of it – HTC One Mini and HTC One Max respectively. The trend of stripped down mini version of flagship phones continues with the HTC One Mini which HTC announced in July, but the phone has been available only recently.

HTC One to get Android 4.4 KitKat within 90 days

HTC One

HTC has been trying their best to turn the ship around and having a consumer centric approach. From the beautifully designed HTC One to the Google Play Edition and now, fast OS updates, the company has been doing a lot of things right. Jason Mackenzie, president of HTC America, has just confirmed that the Google Play Edition of the flagship handset will be running Android 4.4 within 15 days. Samsung Galaxy Note 3 vs HTC One

Samsung announced the third iteration of their very successful Galaxy Note series at the IFA earlier this year in the form of Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is the successor of the extremely popular and successful Galaxy Note 2. Galaxy Note 3 has to live up to its hype that it generated and in terms of specifications, we weren’t disappointed and we definitely wanted Samsung to do something with the design and choice of materials. Samsung have understood that their plastic flagships are no match against competitors like HTC One and hence have tried something different with a faux leather finish at the back of Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

HTC One was announced prior to the MWC 2013 event and was available in India around June by which Samsung had already captured their market with their Galaxy S4. HTC One is the best looking and solidly built Android device yet as it is carved out of an Aluminum Unibody. Something that HTC gambled with their HTC One was its camera department where they introduced a concept called UltraPixel camera which was designed to take better low light images.

Lets check out how these two devices perform against each other.

HTC One mini Benchmarks

HTC One mini Benchmarks

HTC One mini was launched in India earlier this month. It was announced back in July and packs a 4.3-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD display. We already brought you the hands-on and the unboxing of the phone, here we have the benchmarks of the phone. The One mini is powered by a 1.4 GHz dual-core Snapdragon 400 MSM8930 chip clocked at 1.7 GHz  based on Krait 300 architecture and 28nm process and has Adreno 305 GPU . It runs on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) with Sense 5 UI on top.  Let’s find out how the phone fairs up in benchmarks when compared to other devices.

HTC has finally announced the most rumored One Max.  It come with a 5.9 inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display, powered by a 1.7 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor and runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) with the new HTC Sense 5.5 UI that brings updated HTC BlinkFeed that bring customisable topic categories, Instagram and Google+ integration. The main highlight of the phone is the  built-in Fingerprint Scanner  on the back of the smartphone that lets you lock or unlock the phone. 2013 has been an eventful year for cameras on Smartphones. We have seen oversampling algorithms take advantage of huge sensors, increased pixel sizes subverting the megapixel race, optical image stabilization enabling great low light imaging and general widespread adoption of stacked CMOS sensors, making it one of those years when companies made their camera efforts serious. This also means that the traditional gap between the best and the rest has gotten a lot more closer. So, which is the best smartphone camera of this year? We have brought a number of flagship devices together to find out, in a blind test.

HTC One mini officially launched in India for Rs. 36,790

The HTC One mini was announced as the company’s answer to people wanting a compact version of the popular flagship – One, but it arguably did a “mini” on the specifications too, which left people wanting more, especially with that price tag. As if things couldn’t get any worse, the One mini has finally gotten its official launch in India, and it has a MOP price of Rs. 36,790, well above the earlier price some e-tailers had posted. While the price may be a bit on the higher side, the One mini does bring a lot of features that were made popular by the One, including the 4 MP UltraPixel camera, the HTC Zoe camera feature and a really good SLCD2 screen spanning 4.3 inches and sporting a 1280×720 resolution. It is definitely good looking too, borrowing from the design on the One, but with more polycarbonate on the sides and the front.

HTC has officially launched the Desire 500, the company’s latest mid-range smartphone in the Desire series. It went on sale in India online earlier this week and packs a 4.3-inch  (480 × 800 pixels) display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 200 processor and runs on Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) with Sense 5.  It has a 8-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED Flash and BSI sensor and a 1.6-megapixel front-facing camera with BSI sensor.
