iPod Touch 4G vs 3G – Hardware Tour, Size And Retina Display Comparison

It’s only one year ago when I got gifted my 8GB iPod Touch 3rd generation and started discovering and enjoying the world of iOS and that ever-growing AppStore with thousands of cool apps and games. I was hooked almost instantly and used it extensively for a while, then all of a sudden, it started gathering dust in my drawer for a couple of months, and I was back in my old Symbian routine, using a Nokia E72 and N97 Mini. That was until I decided to take the iPod Touch back again, jailbreak it because I felt I was missing an opportunity there, and with multitasking enabled, we became the “bestest” of friends and stayed that way ever since. Lately, I’ve even been using it more and more, relying on it for all my Music and Gaming needs, for my RSS feeds with Reeder, for all my medical apps needs, and a lot of other functions too. Needless to say, those 8GB filled up pretty fast and I was battling the free MBs at least once or twice a week.

That was until the new generation of iPod Touch was announced, and the 32GB one was presented at a relatively affordable price, with all the novelties inside. I couldn’t help but cave in. And I’m pretty excited to say that I’ve been a happy happy camper ever since.

Editorial : The US gets a 4G phone , India gets the iPhone 3GS on a 2.5G Network. Who is to blame ?

Our friends in US are pre-ordering a 4G / WiMax Phone – the HTC EVO 4G.  In India , we still don’t have widespread 3G coverage. 3G services are being offered by only BSNL and MTNL currently and auctions for private players are hopefully starting in April.

Many users in India are already carrying a 3G capable device thanks to handset makers  like Nokia and the likes. But most of those users cannot use the 3G feature on the phone here. It’s simply irrelevant. Adding insult to injury is the launch of the iPhone 3GS on the nation’s largest GSM operator Airtel who has a 2.5G or 2.75G network. So who is to blame for the denial of the latest technology to one of the largest mobile markets in the world  ? Ericsson and TeliaSonera bring 4G and LTE to Sweden , to go live in 2010

When we are all going ga ga over 3G . Sweden might soon get 4G . Ericsson and TeliaSonera have teamed up to bring 4G and LTE to Sweden.

Folks in Stockholm will soon be able watch TV on the street, watch Youtube in full HD in the  car , do a TV show from the country side when fishing and what not ?

LTE or Long-Term Evolution is the future of mobile data and is going to redefine the rules of mobile broadband  networks.

Press Release

Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) and TeliaSonera have unveiled the world’s first commercial Long- Term Evolution (LTE) site in Stockholm, Sweden – an important milestone in making the mobile digital highway a reality. LTE will transform the mobile-broadband user experience, providing the ultra-high data speeds needed for services such as internet TV, mobile video blogging, on-line video games and the mobile office environment.

The site will be part of a commercial network scheduled to go live in 2010, bringing data rates far above what is possible in today’s mobile broadband networks and allowing Stockholmers to stay connected and enjoy seamless, high-quality, online services even while on the move.

Ulf Ewaldsson, Vice President and Head of Product Area Radio at Ericsson, says: “The unveiling of this site shows that LTE is no longer the story of the future; it is the story of today. Ericsson, as a leader in LTE development, is proud to work with TeliaSonera to bring a commercial LTE network to life.”

Erik Hallberg, Senior Vice President and Head of TeliaSonera Mobility Services in Sweden, says: “Being at the forefront of broadband evolution means our customers will be the first to benefit from this groundbreaking technology. This first LTE site is a key step towards further enhancing Sweden’s fastest mobile broadband network.”

LTE enables unprecedented performance in terms of peak data rates, spectrum efficiency and delay. Ericsson has already demonstrated peak rates of 160Mbps. LTE can be deployed both in new and existing frequency bands and is designed to minimize the cost of network operation and maintenance.

The evolution of mobile broadband is an integral factor in building sustainable cities that minimize the use of energy and reduce CO2 emissions.
