HTC EVO 4G Price and Release Date



When HTC and Sprint announced the EVO 4G aka Supersonic yesterday , there was no word on pricing or a specific release date .

The EVO 4G is one amazing device ,  it’s a HD2 on steroids.  It’s not just the hardware that looks great but the Android 2.1 OS and the HTC Sense UI make it feel special. And guess what ? It’s  the world’s first 4G / WiMAX phone.

4G is cool but what about coverage ? We know a lot of users were craving for a killer phone on Sprint and the EVO 4G more than matches their expectations.  But does the HTC , Sprint duo think that users will be willing to pay anything for this phone ?

Sprint currently offers 4G service in 27 markets: Georgia – Atlanta, Milledgeville; Hawaii – Honolulu, Maui; Idaho – Boise; Illinois – Chicago; Maryland – Baltimore; Nevada – Las Vegas; North Carolina – Charlotte, Greensboro, (along with High Point and Winston-Salem), Raleigh (along with Cary, Chapel Hill and Durham); Oregon – Portland, Salem; Pennsylvania – Philadelphia; Texas – Abilene, Amarillo, Austin, Corpus Christi, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Killeen/Temple, Lubbock, Midland/Odessa, San Antonio, Waco, Wichita Falls; Washington – Bellingham, Seattle. Sprint is expected to launch 4G in Boston, Denver, Houston, Kansas City, Minneapolis, New York City, San Francisco and Washington, D.C this year.

Sprint has teamed up with Clearwire for building the WiMAX network which is the backbone for it’s 4G services.

World’s First 3G/4G Android Phone, HTC EVO 4G, Coming this Summer Exclusively from Sprint.Customers will be able to purchase HTC EVO 4G through all Sprint channels and through national retail partners, RadioShack, Best Buy and Walmart, this summer. Pricing will be announced at a later date. Pre-registration begins today at www.sprint.com/evo.

So is Sprint going to fix the price depending on the number of Pre-orders for the phone ?

And will you ever buy a phone / service without actually trying one ?  If you said yes then get ready to spend a truck load of cash for this one !
