Lenovo launched the Z2 Plus in India starting at Rs. 17,999 as the cheapest smartphone with Snapdragon 820 SoC. Now the smartphone has received up to Rs. 3,000 price cut and starts at Rs. 14,999 for the 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage, while the 4GB RAM with 64GB version that was launched for Rs. 19,999 has received a Rs. 2,500 price cut and now costs Rs. 17,499. Motorola has scheduled an event on February 26 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 in Barcelona. The company did not introduce any new phones at the MWC last year, but it unveiled the Moto Z series at the IFA last September. Looks like we might see new “Moto G series” smartphones – Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus at the MWC this year, bit early than usual since these phones are usually unveiled in Q2 or Q3 every year.

Nokia at the CES 2017 last week reportedly showed off a new smartphone prototype codenamed Supreme, which could be introduced as Nokia 8 at the MWC in Barcelona next month. According to a report, the phone is expected come in two versions, one with a Snapdragon 835 processor, 6GB RAM and a 24-megapixel rear camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) along with EIS 3.0, while the other version would come with a Snapdragon 821 processor, 4GB RAM and an unkown rear camera. HTC today announced HTC U Play, a smaller version of the HTC U Ultra with a 5.2-inch 1080p display without a secondary screen. This has the has same glass design with a metal frame and HTC Sense Companion for AI-based suggestions. This is powered by an Octa-Core MediaTek Helio P10 processor, has 16-megapixel front and rear cameras and a fingerprint sensor on the front.

HTC just announced U Ultra, the company’s flagship smartphone in the new ‘U series’. The main highlight of the smartphone is the 2-inch 520 PPI secondary touch-screen display above the main display, like the LG V20. It has a glass finish on the front and back, and a metal frame and the rear glass is fully curved at all four edges. HTC says that it has developed a unique process called optical spectrum hybrid deposition” to give the glass multi-layered color.
