Xiaomi begins working on MIUI 13

Xiaomi announced the MIUI 12, the company’s latest UI yesterday in China with several improvements over MIUI 11. While the update is set to be rolled out to Xiaomi/Redmi devices starting June 2020, Xiaomi has already started working on MIUI 13 and the announcement comes right after MIUI 12 launch yesterday.

MIUI 12 with improved animation, new privacy features and more announced – List of Xiaomi devices getting it

Xiaomi today introduced MIUI 12, the company’s next-generation UI for its smartphone at an event in, as it had promised. It brings improved visual effects, new wallpapers, privacy improvements that now shows all sensitive behaviours of an app, Improved Xiaomi ’s AI phone assistant with AI calling and support for dialling, especially helpful for the hearing impaired. Xiaomi has also optimized the motion recording algorithm adding sleep monitoring so that it can record snoring. The company says that it is offline and will not send the recorded data. MIUI 12 Dark mode 2.0: Smart wallpaper dimming, dynamic contrast and font adjustment

Xiaomi is all set to introduce MIUI 12 in China on April 27th. Today the company has started sharing the features it will bring that includes Dark Mode 2.0. MIUI got dark mode in early 2019, and with MIUI 12 it is now present in 42 built-in applications and 20 mainstream applications are deeply customized for MIUI’s dark mod, and several third-party applications now support non-linear colour invert algorithm that accurately identify interface elements, and dynamically inverts colours for each interface object. MIUI 12’s invert colour algorithm is based on Lab, HSV colour space, and the inverse colour adaptation is wider and more natural. Xiaomi users can now customize Always on Display styles in MIUI Themes app

Xiaomi’s MIUI 11 released last year introduced always-on display with the Dynamic clock and AOD presets where users can customize text slogans that will show up on AOD. The company has been adding new features to its custom skin from time to time and on similar lines now, Xiaomi has incorporated a new AOD section in MIUI Themes app, letting users customise the styles right from the Themes app.

MIUI 12 with refreshed Focus Mode, Refresh Rate UI, and more surfaces

Xiaomi introduced the MIUI 11, the company’s next major UI update back in September last year with several improvements and new features like the minimalistic design, customisable Ambient Display Presets, dynamic sound effects, and more. It is almost 7 months since launch and now, a new leak suggests that the company is working on the next UI update i.e., MIUI 12 and screenshots of the upcoming UI has surfaced.

MIUI gets Android 10 gesture navigation feature

Google released Android 10, the next version of Android back in September last year and OEMs are gradually rolling out the update. Android 10 has several new features including enhanced Privacy Controls, Smart Reply, Dark Theme, Gesture Navigation, and more. Xiaomi has been rolling out MIUI 11 based on Android 10 to its lineup of smartphones and now with the latest beta update in China, it is finally bringing the Android 10 gesture control feature.

Xiaomi suspends MIUI 11 China Beta Update, might begin MIUI 12 development soon

Xiaomi introduced MIUI 11 back in September 2019 in China followed by MIUI 11 Global launch in October in India. MIUI 11 brought new features such as New Minimalistic Design, Blur App PreviewsQuick Replies, New Dynamic Sound Effects, Mi Share, Floating Calculator, Update Mi File Manager, Steps Trackers and more to eligible devices.

Redmi Note 6 Pro, Redmi 6 Pro and Redmi Y2 start receiving Android Security Patch updates in India

Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 6 Pro, Redmi 6 Pro and Redmi Y2 in India back in 2018 running MIUI 10 on top of Android 8.1 (Oreo), all three devices received Android 9.0 (Pie) based MIUI 10 followed by MIUI 11 update last year. The above-mentioned devices may not receive another Android version update in the future but Xiaomi keeps rolling out Android security patch even for old devices from time to time.
