The phone was launched in India for Rs.33990 some time back and there was a lot of confusion around the blogosphere about the 1GHz CPU in the Indian variant. Samsung Blogger Meet @ TGIF, Delhi
This past Saturday, saw Samsung did something which it does not do. Till now, Nokia was the only active company which ‘cultivates’ a league of bloggers, but it is not so. Samsung seems to have clearly declared ‘war’ on all fronts. Fonearena was also invited to the event at T.G.I.F, Vasant Kunj in Delhi. Since it was the first that Samsung was doing, we just had to go.
iPhone OS 3.1 is out
Apple has just announced the release of iPhone OS 3.1 in its Rock And Roll event that happened today.
The new update brings in many important changes like:
- Genius Recommendations for Apps = Get recommendations for apps you might like based on apps you’ve already bought/downloaded from the App store.
- Genius Mixes = iTunes can now create up to 12 playlists based on what’s already there on your iTunes library. and unlike the Genius feature, you now don’t have to choose a sample song as well.
- A Brand New Ringtone Store = Choose from a wide variety of ringtones on the iTunes store with over 30.000 ringtones available for 1.29$ / each ringtone.
- Organize Apps in iTunes = You can now use iTunes to drag and drop apps onto your virtual Home screens on your computer, then sync them back onto your iPhone/iPod Touch.
iPhone 3.1 Update also brings in many other changes like:
- Improved syncing for music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, and photos.
- iTunes U content organization.
- Redeem iTunes Gift Cards, codes, and certificates in the App Store.
- Display available iTunes account credits in the App Store and iTunes Store.
- Save video from Mail and MMS into Camera Roll.
- Option to “Save as new clip” when trimming a video on iPhone 3GS.
- Better iPhone 3G Wi-Fi performance when Bluetooth is turned on.
- Remotely lock iPhone with a passcode via MobileMe.
- Use Voice Control on iPhone 3GS with Bluetooth headsets.
- Paste phone numbers into the keypad.
- Option to use Home button to turn on accessibility features on iPhone 3GS.
- Warn when visiting fraudulent websites in Safari (anti-phishing).
- Improved Exchange calendar syncing and invitation handling.
- Fixes issue that cause some app icons to display incorrectly.
It is available for download right now! So if you have an iPhone/iPod Touch, I would recommend you to upgrade to version 3.1 now.
However if you have a unlocked and jailbroken iPhone, I would recommend you to not update to OS 3.1 right away and hold on for a while until the you hear anything from the iPhone Dev Team.
HTC Hero Comes to India at a Price of Rs.31990
The HTC Hero Phone has been launched in India today at a Price of Rs.31990. Whats really cool about the the Hero is the new Sense UI. Also for the first time on a Android device we have a full-featured mobile browser with Flash support so that you can watch Youtube on the go or pick that greeting card for your special one. Also you must have heard about the special anti-fingerprint coating on the display which tackles smudges and keep the screen clear.

Nokia 5800 gets Major Price Cut
Nokia 5800 – the first mainstream touchscreen music phone from Nokia got a Major Price Cut today. From our sources in the mobile retailers . The new price before tax would be Rs.13499 which is a killer price for a touchscreen music device. Looks like Nokia might phase out this phone soon and wants to bring the all new X6 to India soon.

Nokia X3 Camera Samples
Nokia X3 is an entry level music phone of the Nokia X-series range. It comes with a 3.2 Megapixel Camera and I manged to take a couple of pictures during my interaction with the Music Team at Nokia World. The EXIF info of the pics show the Camera as 7510 Supernova which is kinda interesting. How do you rate these pics coming from a phone priced at approx Rs.8000 ? Interview with Henri Moissinac about Facebook Mobile and India
I recently had an interesting discussion with Henri Moissinac of Facebook Mobile about their Mobile Strategy , their growth in the mobile space and their plans for one of the largest markets in the World – India.
Nokia is the largest handset manufacturer in the world and Facebook is currently the largest social networking site. The partnership between Facebook and Nokia started with Nokia’s popular devices Nokia 5800 and Nokia N97 and the partnership has been quite fruitful till now, with applications and home screen widgets released for Nokia 5800 and N97. That being said, the future possibilities seem endless and quite promising with the recent announcement of the Lifecasting application at Nokia World which ushers in a lot of excitement for the users.
The Facebook app on the iPhone platform is by far one of the most downloaded applications on the Apple App Store and the recent 3.0 version of the app is quite simply one of the best applications developed ever on the iPhone platform. Nokia E72 Initial Impression and Photo Gallery
The Nokia E72 is a great E-series handset from the Finnish handset maker and I’m sure that this phone will continue to create records like the E71. The phone was leaked longed back. The E71 is one of the most popular handsets in the market even today and the E72 addresses the drawbacks of this phone pretty much in every department. I had a chance to interact with the Product manager of this phone – Mika Savolainen @ Nokia World. After using the phone for a short duration, the E72 feels like a pumped up E71 for sure.

The Nokia Booklet 3g and its price speculations…
From the time when Nokia announced Booklet 3G, speculations are rife about the price that it shall be launched in the market. There are two prices being speculated in the at the moment 399 Euros and 799 USD which translate to Rs. 27,700 and Rs 38,800 respectively.
Keeping in mind that the Nokia Booklet 3G is a netbook, the price point seems to be a bit towards the higher side but a look at the specifications of the netbook makes the price of around Rs 30,000 seem justifiable if 12 hour battery life and HDMI support(Full HD playback) are indeed true.
