Aircel India just announced on it’s official Facebook page earlier today that it is bringing the Apple iPhone 4S to India soon. The company would be sharing more details about the launch soon. There are no details about the pricing or the plans but expect it to be similar to the iPhone 4 Pricing with a slight premium. The price of Sony Ericsson Xperia arc S has been revealed for India. The Sony Ericsson Xperia arc S is the sucessor of the Sony Ericsson Xperia arc and it is powered by a 1.4Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). It comes with a 4.2-inch Reality display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine and 8 MP auto focus camera with Exmor R image sensor, LED flash and 720p HD video recording. It was announced in September. Motorola RAZR gets a price tag in India. Online retailer Flipkart has listed the phone with a price but these is no exact launch date. The Motorola RAZR is the thinnest smartphone till date with 7.1 mm thickness, which is about 1.5mm slimmer than the previous slimmest smartphone the Samsung Galaxy S2. It it is made with KEVLAR fiber and features 4.3-inch (960 x 540 pixels) Super AMOLED hyper-vibrant display and it is powered by 1.2 GHz dual core processor. It runs on Android Gingerbread 2.3.5. Looks like Apple finally has an answer for the battery issue surrounding the iPhone 4S. Apple has released the first Over-the-Air update for all iOS devices running on iOs 5 such as the iPhone 3GS, 4 , 4S, iPad , iPad2 , iPod Touch ( 3rd gen and 4th Gen). The update is available Over-the-air meaning you won’t have to download a 700 odd MB file and use iTunes to update your device. In fact I have managed to update 2 iPhones and an iPod touch in a matter of minutes as the OTA update was just 44.6 MB for my iPhone.It would have taken to few hours or days required to download few GBs of files normally. If you are one amongst consumers who had purchased the iPhone 4S from outside India and were facing issues getting it to work here , good news for you. Many users including me were seeing no signal bars on the iPhone 4S in India. Calls and SMS were not working.Surprisingly 3G data was working fine on most operators including Airtel , Vodafone and BSNL. I had tried using some international SIM cards such as AT&T, T-Mobile , O2 UK, 3 UK, SmarTone (HK). Google Translate for iPhone has been updated to version 1.2.0 that brings 5 new Indian language support the include, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Tamil and Telugu. This feature is already available for the Google Translate for desktop and the web app since June. The Google Translate for iPhone was launched earlier this year and has received some minor updates since then. With the new addition, the app now supports text translation among 63 languages, voice input in 17 of those languages, and text-to-speech in 24 of them. MapmyIndia has launched ShowNearby app for Blackberry, Android and iPhone, that lets the users to search and discover all places of interest nearby, such as restaurants, ATMs, petrol pumps, retail brands, coffee shops, tourist spots, emergency services etc. across India. This is powered by digital map data from MapmyIndia with Singapore’s leading location app ShowNearby. It is branded as Micromax Superfone A85 and it is powered by a 1 GHz Dual Core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor and runs on Android 2.2 (Froyo) that is upgradable to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). It has gesture controls in Contacts, Call Logs, Messaging, Email, Calendar, Gallery and Music Player and also has voice controls. Nokia India just sent us an invite for a launch event on Nov 14th. The invite talks about Amazing New Experiences. We are betting this is the India launch of the Windows Phone devices. Nokia announced the Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 devices at Nokia World 2011 last month where the company promised to bring these devices to India before the end of the year. The Lumia 710 would be coming first followed by the Lumia 800 from what we have learnt. Interestingly both these devices use a microSIM card like the iPhone 4 , 4s and Nokia N9. Would be interesting to see how operators address this issue. Pricing wise the Lumia 710 is expected to be cheaper than the 800 and the stated pricing is 270 euros and the device can come at around Rs.20,000

Asus has announced their Eee Pad Transformer Prime Android tablet with Quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor and 10.1-inch LED backlit display that offers 178-degree viewing angle and has a maximum brightness of 600 nits. The tablet is powered by Quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor and runs on Android 3.2 (Honeycomb) with an update to Ice Cream Sandwich expected soon. It is 8.3mm thick and comes with a mini-HDMI output, microSD slot. The keyboard dock has Multi-touch pad, SD Card reader and a USB port. If you are big fan of Adobe Flash Player on your Android phone or BlackBerry Playbook , bad news ! Adobe has announced that it is stopping development of Flash Player for mobile browsers and mobile devices. It will however provide critical bug fixes and security updates. This info comes from ZDNET who got early access to this announcement from Adobe. Looks like Adobe is increasing investment in HTML5 and shying away from Flash player on the mobile browser.

Firefox for Android has been updated to version 8.0 that lets the users to set a master password to encrypt saved usernames and passwords for better security. This also has Home Screen Bookmark feature that lets the users add any bookmarks on their Android Home Screen. The Firefox mobile already has option to sync browser history, bookmarks, passwords and open tabs from any device and also supports add-ons. Swype Keyboard Beta for Symbian has been updated to version 2.1 that brings Symbian Belle support and new install / uninstall experience that lets you install the app easily without any problem. They have solved all the critical issues raised on Nokia Beta for the period of last 8 weeks in the Beta Labs. This is also the last Beta release for the app before it gets graduated to the Ovi store. The previous version was 2.0 that brought portrait and split-screen text input support.
