If you are big fan of Adobe Flash Player on your Android phone or BlackBerry Playbook , bad news ! Adobe has announced that it is stopping development of Flash Player for mobile browsers and mobile devices. It will however provide critical bug fixes and security updates. This info comes from ZDNET who got early access to this announcement from Adobe. Looks like Adobe is increasing investment in HTML5 and shying away from Flash player on the mobile browser.

The Motorola Droid 2 was launched today and will be available in stores soon. We have received word from Adobe that the Droid 2 will have the Adobe Flash Player 10.1 pre-installed . Adobe has also hinted that the several Android handsets such as the HTC Incredible , EVO 4G , Desire , Samsung Galaxy S , Motorola Milestone and Droid X will support Flash Player 10.1 in the following weeks. What interesting is that the Flash Player on the Droid 2 is also hardware accelerated and looks pretty smooth in the video. Watch it below.

The Apple iPad and other i products such as the iPod touch and iPhone don’t support Flash content simply because Apple thinks Flash obsolete and that HTML5 is the future . But someone has managed to port the Android version of Flash to Jailbroken iPads and here is a video demo which shows Flash movies playing on the iPad. One of the major features missing on the Apple iPad is Adobe Flash support . Apple and Adobe have never reached a successful pact on bringing Flash to the iPhone for 3 years now although talks have been going on. The best thing to happen was Flash runtime support for iPhone apps. Now this issue resurfaces on the iPad.
