LG to roll out Android 4.1 update for select high-end Optimus devices starting from November

LG has announced the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) update schedule for high-end devices including Optimus LTE 2, Optimus G, Optimus Vu and Vu 2 in Korea. The LG Optimus LTE 2 would be the first device to get the Jelly Bean update, which would start in November. LG’s latest quad-core Smartphone, Optimus G would get the update in December, while the Optimus Vu and its successor Vu 2 would get the update in Q1 2012. Rumor: Sony working on a 5 inch 1080p smartphone

According to multiple leaks that have been cataloged by GSMArena, it looks like Sony is working on a new smartphone scheduled to be launched 2013 that will have a 5 inch 1080p display. This device, which has two names depending on the country it’ll launch in, the C660X ‘Yuga’ and the C650X ‘Odin’, has been seen in the NenaMark2 database. Translation: Some Sony engineer with a prototype of this as yet to be unveiled smartphone wanted to see how fast it was, so they ran a benchmark and accidentally uploaded the results to the internet. LG Optimus 4X HD price drops to Rs. 27990


LG Optimus 4X HD has got a price cut in India, which is now available for Rs. 27,990. It was announced at MWC 2012 earlier this February and launched in India for Rs. 34,990 in July. Micromax has started teasing their upcoming A110 Superfone Canvas 2 on their Facebook page and also opened the pre-booking for the handset on Snapdeal. It is the successor of the Micromax A100 Superfone Canvas that we reviewed recently. The design of the phone is similar to the A100, but it would come with a 1 GHz dual-core processor and an upgraded 8 Megapixel camera with LED Flash and a 0.3MP front-facing camera for video calling. Karbonn launches Smart Tab 9 and Smart Tab 3 Tablets, A11, A7+ and A1+ Android Smartphones

Karbonn Mobiles has launched Smart Tab 9 (Marvel) and Karbonn Smart Tab 3 (Blade) running on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and range of Android Smartphones in India. Both these tablets are powered by a 1.2 GHz processor similar to the Smart Tab 1 that was launched in July. The Karbonn Smart Tab 9 has a 9-inch capacitive touch screen and a 4000 mAh battery, while the Smart Tab 3 comes with a 7.1-inch capacitive touch screen and a 2600 mAh battery. Dropbox for Android v2.2 update brings new Photos tab

Dropbox for Android has been updated to version 2.2 that brings new features including a new Photos tab that lists your uploaded photos and videos, including photos uploaded from other devices. Android Police has got hold of the upcoming Gmail for Android app version 4.2. Looks like this would be a major update from the existing version of the Gmail for Android version 4.1.2. The upcoming Gmail for Android update is expected to bring the most expected pinch-to-zoom feature and a new swipe to archive or delete feature to quickly delete or archive a mail from you inbox or sent. Samsung Galaxy S3 mini with 4-inch Super AMOLED display, 1 GHz dual-core processor, Android 4.1 announced

Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy S3 mini that surfaced yesterday. It has a 4.0-inch (480×800 pixels ) Super AMOLED display  and is powered by a 1 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a 5 Megapixel Auto Focus Camera with LED Flash, 720p video recording at the back and a VGA front-facing camera. The design of the phone and some of the features are similar to the Galaxy S Duos that was announced in August. It also has some of the unique features that were present in the Galaxy S3 including S Voice, Smart Stay, Direct Call, S Beam and Buddy photo share. The guys on the CyanogenMod team look to be working hard as they have released the M2 version which is for the second month. Karbonn A21 and A9+ with 1.2 GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, Android 4.0 coming soon

Looks like Karbonn is on a launching spree. The Karbonn A11 that was listed online earlier this went on sale today. Now, the Karbonn A9+ is listed on Flipkart and the Karbonn A21 appears on the Karbonn site. The A9+ is the successor of the Karbonn A9 that was launched in July. The A9+ has a 4.0-inch (480 × 800 pixels) IPS display, while the A21 has a 4.5-inch (540 ×960 pixels) IPS display. Both these devices are powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor (According to Wikipedia, A9+ is powered by a Snapdragon S4 processor, but we have to wait for the official launch since any one can edit these details).
