Microsoft unveils Windows Phone 8

Microsoft has officially unveiled the Windows Phone 8 at an event in San Francisco as they announced earlier this month. They announced the Windows Phone 8 back in June, but at the yesterday’s launch event they demoed several features including new features such as Kid’s Corner, Rooms in People’s Hub and automatic image uploads from the phone’s camera. It would also have seamless integration with SkyDrive and Skype.

The Kid’s Corner would let the kids use their parent’s phone to play games and access select apps from the Kid’s corner section, even if the phone is locked. The Rooms feature lets the users group lists, calendars, and photos, all at one place and invite your friends to join the Room to access it.

The most expected automatic photo upload is finally here. This automatically uploads the camera photos to your Sky Drive account, similar to the auto photo upload in the Dropbox for Android and iOS.

Here is a video of  Joe Belfiore, Vice President of Windows Phone explaining the features of Windows Phone 8.
