Microsoft has launched Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) in India that has new Metro UI, Live Tiles and Hubs. The application icons have been replaced by Live Tiles on the Windows Phone start screen that offers real-time updates from the Web such as news, applications, appointments or the status of friends. One of the most popular cross platform messaging services ie WhatsApp is finally making its way over to Windows Phone 7.5 which is also known as Mango. WhatsApp sent across a cryptic message via its official Twitter channel which indicated that it was working on an app for Mango.
If the Windows Phone Dev Podcast is to be believed then we can expect the WP7 Mango roll out to begin sometime next week. The awaited update brings major improvements with the biggest being support for multitasking.
The Windows Phone 7 homebrew scene is in its nascent stages. Jailbreaking is not easy and the benefits few. All this could soon change as developer ZeBond unveils his MetroPack application.
