Key Software Enhancements
The upcoming update brings three core additions aimed at improving noise cancellation management, voice interactions, and sleep integration:
- Dynamic ANC Adjustments: Designed specifically for the Pixel Buds Pro 2, this feature automatically compensates for real-time changes in noise isolation. If an earbud’s seal subtly shifts during movement, the device adjusts its processing to maintain consistent Active Noise Cancellation performance.
- Gemini Audio Control: Users can now modify specific earbud settings using Gemini voice commands. The integration allows hands-free requests for equalizer adjustments, such as asking the system to boost the bass.
- Pixel Watch Sleep Sync: Cross-device synchronization with the Pixel Watch now supports sleep detection. When the smartwatch detects that the wearer has fallen asleep, it automatically pauses active audio playback, disables touch controls on the earbuds to prevent accidental inputs, and mutes incoming notifications.
Availability and Rollout Timeline
- Pixel Buds Pro 2 in Olive: The new Olive color option becomes available for order starting August 12.
- Software Rollout: The accompanying software enhancements are scheduled to begin rolling out to compatible Pixel Buds devices in September.
