Google Translate for Android v2.4 update brings new UI and more text to speech languages

Google Translate for Android has been updated to version 2.4 that brings new simplified Holo UI that offers drop down menus and the an action bar. The app lets you translate text between more than 64 languages with new Esperanto translation and speech to text in 17 languages. Google+ for Android has been updated to version 2.6 that brings new UI and improved navigation. Google+ for iPhone got these features earlier this month. The Android app now has ability to start a hangout on the go, and to edit posts inline and more new features. Google publishes updated search app for iPhone

Google has today published an updated search application for the iPhone which provides a simpler way to access all Google apps from one place. The update boasts of faster autocompletion of search terms. Pages load faster and it is easer to access multiple pages due to a slide-in panel.

Google has finally acquired Motorola Mobility, Googler Dennis Woodside replaces Sanjay Jha as CEO

After winning regulatory approval in China , Google has finally completed it’s acquisition of Motorola Mobility for a record $12.5 billion. Google CEO Larry Page wrote a blog post today titled  “We’ve acquired Motorola Mobility” and that the deal has finally closed after 9 months since the initial announcement. Google now has access to over 17000 patents owned by Motorola Mobility and will come in handy in it’s patent wars against Microsoft and Apple.

Google selling Galaxy Nexus with new factory image on Play Store

Google has started selling the Galaxy Nexus on Google Play from this week just for $399.99, six week after its debut. This new device comes with Google wallet and a $10 credit by default. Another interesting factor is that the system image on this Galaxy Nexus is not the usual “Yakju” build, instead it’s the “Takju” image which has been used.

Google Docs for Android is now Google Drive, adds new features

Google has finally launched the Google Drive, and the Google Docs for Android has been re-branded as Google Drive that adds new features in the version 1.0.77. Galaxy Nexus coming to Sprint on April 22 for $199.99

Sprint has announced that the Samsung Galaxy Nexus would be available stating April 22. It is also the first Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, smartphone with 4G LTE capability on Sprint. It boasts 1.2GHz dual-core processor, a 4.65-inch (1280 x 720 resolution pixels) HD Super AMOLED display, 5-megapixel camera with auto focus and 1080p video capture, 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera that lets the user video chat with a group of up to 10 friends.

Reliance partners with Google, offers 1GB free 3G Data for Android phones

Reliance Communications (RCOM) and Google has entered into a two-year deal to market the Android mobile operating system and Google Mobile Services in order to promote the usage of Android devices in India. Reliance becomes the first telecom operator in the country to collaborate with Google. They offer 1GB of free 3G data usage for one month to all Android device users in India. Android 4.0.4 update starts rolling out for Nexus S and HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus

Google has announced on their Android Google+ page that they have started rolling out Android 4.0.4 update for UMTS / GSM Nexus S (I9020), HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus (I9250) and Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi in select regions. Some users might receive the it for the first time, and others who are on Android 4.0.3 would receive it as an update that is around 17MB. Google considering sharing revenue with carriers to stimulate Wallet adoption

Reports suggest that Google might be considering sharing revenues from Google Wallet with AT&T and Vodafone to help stimulate usage. The service currently only works on one network and device ie the Sprint Nexus S 4G. Sprint plans to out 10 more Wallet supported devices later this year.
