It was rumoured that the new Google Nexus 5 might sport a new DigitalOptics MEMS camera, but the company has come out of the shadows to claim that the reports were inaccurate, but it also provided us with new information that Oppo, not LG, is going to be the first company in the world to use its Multi-Focus capable 8 Megapixel MEMS camera unit. To say Oppo is serious about cameras on its phones is an understatement. Even the Oppo R819, as noted in our review, has a great camera for the price and the N1’s 13 megapixel camera is touted as being superior to others. And marching on, the company is all set to use the innovative Lytro-like multi focus cameras on its phones.

These two AndroidLand, Android branded retail experience stores are located in Koramangala, Bangalore and at The Great India Place Mall, Noida. These multi-location stores will offer Android experiences created for its customers and will showcase a comprehensive range of Android devices, services and accessories, says Spice. Xolo Q700i with 4.5-inch display, Android 4.2 now available for Rs. 11999

Xolo Q700i, the new Xolo phone in the Q CORE series that was spotted online earlier this week, is now available from online retailers Flipkart and Infibeam. Xolo launched the Q700 back in May, and most of the features in the Q700i are similar to the Q700.  It has a 4.5-inch qHD (960 x 540 pixels) 16M color capacitive touch screen IPS display based on one-glass solution (OGS) technology,  powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). Microsoft to release Remote Desktop apps for iOS and Android this month

Remote Desktop has been a popular feature for Windows PCs for a long time, mainly used to remotely help your friends or family, usually for troubleshooting. The Server-Client methodology has enabled the clients to exist on many platforms. In fact, the Remote Desktop Protocol is widely known to be used in third party apps, but as always, nothing comes close to the apps done by the people who created it. Microsoft are doing just that, by releasing Remote Desktop apps for iOS and Android later this month, according to the company’s own press release.

Datawind, the company behind the low-cost Aakash tablets has launched three new tablets, UbiSlate 7Cx, UbiSlate 3G7 and the UbiSlate 9Ci. The UbiSlate 7Cx is the cheapest among these, which comes with a 7-inch capactive touch screen display, powered by a 1 GHz Cortex A8 processor and runs on Android 4.0 (ICS). It also comes with 2G (EDGE) connectivity. The UbiSlate 3G7 also has a 7-inch capactive touch screen display, powered by  a 1.2 GHz Cortex A8 processor and runs on Android 4.0 (ICS). It has a 2-megapixel rear camera and a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera. It also has 3G data connectivity, WiFi and Bluetooth support. We have had the Apple iPhone 5s with us for a while now. You might have seen us mention in the 5s Dock Unboxing that we had picked up a couple of accessories for the device from the Hong Kong Apple Store and the Yellow leather case is one of them. The Amkette Metal is designed to produce the loudest sound from possibly the smallest space, while the Solo range is a colorful range aimed at youth segment. The Metal is Bluetooth-enabled speakers which also has a built in microphone so that you can answer calls when it’s connected to a phone. Just like the other phones in the Andi series, the Andi 4a runs on Android and it features mid-range specifications. It has a 4.0-inch (480×800 pixels) display, powered by 1 GHz Dual-Core Cortex A9 Processor, runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and a 8MP rear camera. It has 35 lumens projector that allows users to project instantly up to 10 feet by 8 feet  in VGA (480 x 640 pixels) resolution. The projector has a contrast ratio of 1200:1. HTC has officially launched the Desire 500, the company’s latest mid-range smartphone in the Desire series. It went on sale in India online earlier this week and packs a 4.3-inch  (480 × 800 pixels) display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 200 processor and runs on Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) with Sense 5.  It has a 8-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED Flash and BSI sensor and a 1.6-megapixel front-facing camera with BSI sensor. MediaTek licenses ARM Cortex-A50 Series CPUs and new Mali GPUs

MediaTek has announced that they have acquired a broad license to Cortex-A50 Series processor cores and the next generation of ARM Mali Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) solutions. MediaTek already uses ARM Coretex A7, Cortex A9 and Cortex A15 CPUs for their quad-core and dual-core chips. The company recently announced a True Octa-Core chip solution and also revealed MT8135 quad-core chip based on ARM big.LITTLE and with PowerVR Series6 GPU. Samsung Galaxy Round with curved OLED display launched on SK Telecom in Korea

Just hours after we got our first glimpse of Samung’s upcoming curved glass display handset, the smartphone has been officially announced. Heading to SK Telecom in Korea, the phone will officially be called the Galaxy Round.

The phone is very slim at just 7.9mm and weighs 154 grams. The battery is now a bit smaller at 2800 mAh owing to the curvature and physical design. The phone runs Android 4.3 on a 2.3 Ghz quad core processor which we assume is the Snapdragon 800. This is paired with 3GB of RAM and you’ll also find a 13MP camera at the back of the phone. The tech specs are a play on those of the Galaxy Note 3. The highlight of the phone of course is the curved glass 5.7 inch panel with Full HD resolution.
