Celkon has launched the A119Q Signature HD, successor of the A119 Signature HD that was launched back in March. We reviewed the phone last month, and found that it would be better Celkon had launched it with a quad-core processor. The company has finally launched a worthy contender to the Micromax A116 Canvas HD. The A119Q comes with a similar 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) touch screen display and comes with a 12-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED Flash and a 3-megapixel front-facing camera. This one is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589 processor with PowerVR SGX 544MP GPU and runs on Android 4.2.1 (Jelly Bean). Looks like iBall is getting ready to launch the company’s flagship Android smartphone, the Android 4.5d Quadro. The phone was spotted on the official website. It packs a 4.5-inch (960 x 540 pixels) capacitive touch screen IPS display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.2.1 (Jelly Bean). It comes with a 12-megapixel auto focus rear camera with dual LED flash and a 3-megapixel front-facing camera. It also has dual microphones for noise reduction. The iBall Andi 5L went on sale last week and the Andi 5Li with Android 4.1 is expected to launch soon. Xolo is expected to launch the Q700 with a similar display, quad-core processor and Android 4.2 later this week. Facebook has updated the Messenger app for the iPhone to version 2.4, that brings support for stickers finally. Facebook for iPhone and iPad was the first app to get support for stickers in messaging. Facebook Messenger for Android got stickers in an update couple of weeks back. You can tap the smiley icon when you are typing a message to add large stickers to your messages. Viber, the cross platform VOIP client, which broke into the scene mobile-first has now transcended to the PC ecosystem by introducing its client on Windows and Mac computers. Viber is very similar to Skype in letting you make voice calls, video calls and send messages in groups or otherwise. Only thing differentiating it from Skype was desktop support and now that part of the puzzle has been found. Viber desktop lets you do everything you do on your mobile phone and even lets you transfer calls from one device to another, which is pretty cool. Google Nexus 7 32GB WiFi + 3G now available from Snapdeal for Rs. 21999


Google Nexus 7 16GB version went on sale in India from the Google Play Store back in March at a price tag of Rs. 15,999, and the 32GB version went on sale from the Google Play last month at Rs. 18,999. Asus launched the 32GB WiFi and 32GB 3G versions of the tablet in India last  month. The 3G version went on sale only from select retail shops such as Reliance, but it didn’t show up on Google Play. Now online retailer Snapdeal has started selling the Nexus 7 32GB WiFi + 3G version along with the 32 GB WiFi version. Hike Messenger to come pre-loaded on select Nokia Lumia and Asha phones

Bharti Softbank (BSB), a joint-venture between Bharti Enterprises and SoftBank Corp have announced that they have partnered with Nokia to pre-load its Hike cross-platform messaging app app on its phones, according to a report. The Hike app is available for Android, iPhone, Windows Phone and for Nokia S40 devices from the respective app stores. It launched talk-time rewards for customers earlier this year, and released a Beta version of the application for BlackBerry last month. UC Web announces partnership with Trend Micro for in-browser mobile web safety assessment

Over at the Global Mobile Internet Conference, UCWeb has announced a new partnership with global internet security expert, Trend Micro. Under the agreement, both companies will work to provide mobile web safety assessments in the browser. The aim is provide a comprehensive safety net for users of the product via cloud based security scans in the browser and also for Android apps downloaded via the UC Web browser.

Trend Micro analyzes as much as 4.46TB of data every day and has identified 350,000 high risk Android applications. This number is further expected to grow by 400% to 1.4 million in 2013.

UC Web with a global userbase in excess of 400 million and with 200 million daily registered clicks aims to provide comprehensive cloud based security for its users through its partnership with Trend Micro. The technology in question is Trend Micro’s Application Reputation Service (MARS) that works with both websites and Android applications. The service has analyzed close to 3 million Android apps to date with about 560,000 of them being flagged as malicious. UC Web has added the feature to version 7.4 of its browser making it the world’s first ‘secure mobile browser’.Considering the browser’s popularity in developing markets, the move is a welcome addition.
