Qualcomm on the second day of its second annual Snapdragon Technology Summit announced Snapdragon 845, its next-generation Mobile Platform for mobile devices that is manufactured on second generation 10LPP process from Samsung. It promises immersive multimedia experiences including eXtended reality (XR), on-device artificial intelligence (AI), lightning-fast connectivity, and also has new secure processing unit (SPU) to offer the best security for premium, flagship mobile devices.

LG just sent out invites for the launch of its flagship V30+ smartphone in India on December 13th. The V30+ comes with 128GB storage compared to 64GB on the V30. It has a 6-inch (1440 × 2880 pixels) QHD+ OLED FullVision display with 18:9 aspect ratio and narrow bezels, is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform and runs Android 7.1.2 (Nougat) with LG UX 6.0+, which is upgradable to Android 8.0 (Oreo).

A week after releasing the final Android 8.1 Developer Preview 2, Google has released final Android 8.1 (Oreo) update for compatible Pixel and Nexus devices that brings support for Android Oreo (Go edition) software experience for entry-level devices and also introduces the Neural Networks API, a hardware accelerated machine learning runtime to support ML capabilities in apps. At the second annual Snapdragon Technology Summit, Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform as the successor to Snapdragon 835 that most flagship smartphones this year. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun at the event said that Qualcomm has always been part of Xiaomi’s flagship smartphone launches right from the Mi 1 that was introduced back in 2011 and the next flagship Xiaomi smartphone will be powered by Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform. He said that 238 million Xiaomi smartphones are powered by Qualcomm processors.

Microsoft and Qualcomm last year announced that Windows 10 will be coming to next-generation of Snapdragon Mobile processors. At the Computex 2017 earlier this year Qualcomm announced that ASUS, HP and Lenovo will be the first OEMs to build PCs powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Mobile PC Platform with X16 LTE modem. Today at its second annual Snapdragon Technology Summit, Qualcomm in partnership with Microsoft introduced the Always Connected PCs with 4G LTE which would bring ARM support to Windows 10, but with x86 emulation, allowing all existing applications to work as well.
Huawei’s Honor brand along with the Honor 7X also introduced the Honor View 10 smartphone, which is the global version of the Honor V10 that was introduced in China last week. It has similar specifications including a 5.99-inch 18:9 FullView display with ultra narrow bezels, Octa-Core HiSilicon Kirin 970 10nm SoC with i7 co-processor, dedicated neural network processing unit and Android 8.0 (Oreo) with Emotion UI 8.0 on top.
Huawei’s Honor brand just launched the most expected Honor 7X smartphone at a global event in London, as it had promised. It packs a 5.93-inch Full HD+ 18:9 2.5D curved glass display with minimal bezels, is powered by an Octa-Core Kirin 659 processor and has a 16-megapixel rear camera with a 2-megapixel secondary camera along with an 8-megapixel front camera. Google launched Tez payments app in India back in September. Today at the Google for India event in Delhi the company said that Tez has seen huge growth in its first 10 weeks of launch. It has processed over 140 million transactions from nearly 12 million active users and over 525,000 merchants are on Tez who pay their suppliers or transfer money to employees.
