HMD Global just launched the Nokia 2.2, the company’s latest budget Android One smartphone and the successor of last year’s Nokia 2.1 in India, as expected. It packs a 5.71-inch HD+ screen, is powered by MediaTek Helio A22 12nm SoC with up to 3GB RAM, runs Android 9.0 (Pie) with 2 years of Android and 3 years of security updates, has a 13-megapixel rear camera with AI low-light feature, HDR and an 5-megapixel camera on the front with support for Face Unlock, but it doesn’t have a fingerprint sensor. Redmi Y3 goes on open sale in India

Xiaomi’s Redmi brand launched theRedmi Y3 smartphone in India in April, and the phone went on sale for the first time starting April 30th through Amazon.in, Mi.com and Mi Home stores starting at Rs. 9999. It was sold every Tuesdays after that, now the phone is available through open sale after one month of launch. The Redmi 7 went on open sale last month, and the Redmi Note 7S went on open sale last week.

Google releases Android Q Beta 4 with final APIs, reveals upcoming ‘Screen Attention’ and ‘Face authentication’ features

Google released Android developer preview for Android ‘Q’ back in March, released Beta 2 in April and Android Q beta 3 last month during I/O. Today it has released beta 4 for Pixel devices with final Android Q developer APIs (API level 29), the official API 29 SDK, and updated build tools for Android Studio.

Samsung to integrate custom AMD Radeon GPU IP into its future smartphone SoCs

AMD and Samsung Electronics have announced a multi-year strategic partnership in ultra low power, high performance mobile graphics IP based on AMD Radeon graphics technologies. As part of the partnership, Samsung will license AMD graphics IP to use it in its future SoCs. The company is currently using ARM’s Mali GPU in its Exynos SoCs, so this could change soon. Infinix Xband 3 water-resistant fitness tracker with heart rate and blood pressure monitoring launched in India for Rs. 1599

Infinix has launched Xband 3 (XB03), the company’s latest fitness tracker in India. It has 0.96-inch color screen that displays icons for different functions. It lets you monitor your heart rate, blood oxygen and blood pressure levels, says the company. The fitness band is IP67 rated for water resistance against accidental splashes and dust.

Samsung launches world’s first QLED 8K TV and 2019 QLED TV line-up in India

Samsung has launched the world’s first QLED 8K TV in India. It has 8K AI Upscaling, Quantum Processor 8K, and Quantum HDR. These come in four sizes — 98-inch (247 cm), 82-inch (207 cm), 75-inch (189 cm) and 65-inch (163 cm) — come with 33 million pixels, four times the resolution of 4K UHD TVs and 16 times that of a Full HD TV.
