Samsung extends multi-year partnership with AMD to use Radeon GPU in more Exynos SoCs

Samsung announced its partnership to license AMD RDNA graphics architecture to integrate into mobile GPUs in 2019, and introduced Xclipse 920 GPU based on AMD RDNA 2 architecture in Exynos 2200 last year. Samsung confirms AMD GPU for its next-gen flagship Exynos SoC

Samsung introduced Exynos 2100, the company’s latest flagship SoC that will power the Galaxy S21 series. Inyup Kang, President of System LSI Business at Samsung Electronics at the end of the event confirmed that the company has been working with AMD and the next-generation mobile GPU from AMD will be used in the next flagship Exynos processor. Samsung to integrate custom AMD Radeon GPU IP into its future smartphone SoCs

AMD and Samsung Electronics have announced a multi-year strategic partnership in ultra low power, high performance mobile graphics IP based on AMD Radeon graphics technologies. As part of the partnership, Samsung will license AMD graphics IP to use it in its future SoCs. The company is currently using ARM’s Mali GPU in its Exynos SoCs, so this could change soon.
