Aircel has tied up with Nimbuzz to launch a new data plan to promote the app ecosystem with an offer to provide free data for the Aircel subscribers in Jammu and Kashmir. This is aimed towards observing data-based communication behavioural pattern of the Jammu and Kashmir customers. The Aircel-Nimbuzz communication-based data plan doesn’t require you to recharge with any packs. Aircel recently launched free unlimited 3G data access for 3 hours every day with 30 days validity. Xolo has officially launched the B700, the company’s new Android smartphone with a 3450 mAh battery which offers 363 hours of standby 20 hours of talk time on 3G, up to 38 hours Music Playback via internal speakers and up to 86 hours via wired headset. Xolo promises 9 hours of video playback while using internal speakers and up to 10.5 hours while using a wired headset. The Xolo B700 went on sale online last week.

Google has introduced support for 6 Indic languages in Gmail on the feature phone browser. These languages include, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu. This would be much useful for native language speakers with feature phones read emails and understand the functionality inside Gmail in their own languages. Google had introduced support for Indic languages for their apps. Google Translate for iPhone got support for 5 Indic languages back in 2011. Close on the heels of the official launch of the Nexus 7 tablet in India, Google is now rolling out Movies on the Google Play store in India. India seems to be letting a lot of love from Google off late. The Book store went live few days back and now we have the Movie store. Apple did get a head start in India by rolling out the iTunes store late last year.

Nokia has cut the price of the Lumia 820 to Rs. 23,499 in India. The Lumia 820 was announced back in September 2012, and it was launched in India earlier this year at a price tag of Rs. 27559. It has a 4.3-inch (800 x 480 pixels) AMOLED ClearBlack display, 1.5 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor and runs on the latest Windows Phone 8 OS. Datawind, the company behind the low-cost Aakash tablets launched 4 new 7-inch tablets including the UbiSlate 7C+ back in September 2012. Now the new UbiSlate 7C+ Edge is on sale exclusively from online retailer Snapdeal.com. The UbiSlate 7C+ has a SIM card slot with GPRS support, but the new UbiSlate 7C+ Edge comes with EDGE support. These were announced back in December 2012. The Xperia E dual went on sale in India recently, which we unboxed last week. Ericsson sues Micromax for Rs. 100 Crores over patent infringement

Ericsson, world’s biggest telecom network equipment maker has sued Micromax over patent infringement regarding wireless technology standards such as GSM, EDGE and 3G, according to a report from Economic Times. Ericsson is calming over Rs 100 crore in damages since Micromax has refused to sign necessary licences for products compliant with the GSM, EDGE, and UMTS/WCDMA standards, after three years of negotiations failed. Will Google start selling the Nexus 4 in India soon ?

In an interesting development , Google has listed the Nexus 7 up for sale on the Google Play India store just minutes ago. This is the first time Google is directly selling a device in India to a customer through its Play store. This might be a sign of things to come. The Nexus 4 is also hidden on the store but the page says that ” it is not available in your country ” . There has been a lot of speculation about the Nexus 4 launching in India ever since Google started selling one of the most affordable Android 4.2 powered in the US market.

Google Play Store India now sells the 16 GB Nexus 7 for a price of Rs. 15,999

It has been a while since we saw the Google Nexus 7 *officially* launch in India for Rs. 19,999/- but now, out of the blue, we have got the devices page on the Indian Google Play Store selling the Nexus 7 directly for Rs. 15,999 for the 16 GB version. Earlier, it was Croma, the Tata retailer that was selling it, but looks like we are finally seeing Google directly selling the device.
