
The Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus went on sale in India for Rs. 22,900 couple of weeks back, now Samsung’s new budget phones, the Galaxy Y Plus and the Galaxy Young are on sale in India from online retailers Snapdeal and Flipkart. The Samsung Galaxy Y Plus (GT-S5303) surfaced on Samsung India’s website last month. It has a 2.8-inch QVGA (240 x 320 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 850 MHz processor and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The Samsung Galaxy Young (GT-S6312) was announced back in February, and we also brought you hands-on images of the device from the MWC 2013. It has a 3.27-inch ( 480 × 320 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1 GHz processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). DoT asks Vodafone and Idea to stop 3G Intra-circle roaming

The Department of Telecom (DoT) have asked Vodafone India and Idea Cellular to stop 3G services outside their licensed zones in 3 days, according to a recent report by Economic Times. DoT has also asked these companies to pay Rs. 550 and Rs. 300 crore, respectively for violating licence norms. DoT had asked Bharti Airtel to stop 3G services in 7 circles last month and asked them to pay Rs. 350 crore (Rs. 50 crore per circle) for illegal roaming pact. Later Delhi High Court temporarily stalled the execution of DoT’s order until the final hearing, after Airtel appealed against it. Lava Iris 455 with 4.5-inch display, 1GHz dual-core processor, Android 4.1 launched for Rs. 7799

Lava has launched the Iris 455, a new Android smartphone in the Iris Series on Blockbuster Phoneday. It has a 4.5inch (960 x 540 pixels) qHD capacitive touch screen display and has a 1GHz dual-core processor similar to the Iris 454 that was launched earlier this year for Rs. 8,499, but this runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) instead of ICS. It has a 5-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED flash and a VGA front-facing camera. Huawei Ascend Y300 and Ascend G510 now available in India for Rs. 7980 and Rs. 10990

Huawei Ascend Y300 and the Huawei Ascend G510 went on pre-order in India earlier this week. Both these phones are now available from online retailer Flipkart. The Ascend Y300 has a 4.0-inch (800 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen IPS display, powered by a 1 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8225 processor. The Ascend G510 has a 4.5-inch (854 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen IPS display and is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8225 processor. Both these phones run on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), have a 5-megapixel auto focus camera with LED Flash and a 0.3 MP front-facing camera. Micromax A91 Ninja with 4.5-inch display, 1 GHz dual-core processor now available for Rs. 8499

The Micromax A91 Ninja, a new dual SIM Android smartphone is now on sale from online retailer Saholic. It has a 4.5-inch (854 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1 GHz dual-core MediaTek processor and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). It has a 5MP auto focus rear camera and a 0.3 MP (VGA) front-facing camera. This has a TFT LCD display instead of Super AMOLED display in the A90S that was launched last year, but the display resolution and that battery are slightly better. Most of the features are similar to the Karbonn A12 that was launched earlier this year. Nokia Lumia 520 available at retail stores starting from April 6th for Rs. 10499

Nokia India has announced that the Lumia 520 would go on sale from retail stores across India starting from tomorrow, April 6th 2013 for Rs. 10,499. It went up on pre order last week and went on sale online earlier this week. Nokia already announced at the Lumia 520 launch event last month that the phone would come with 1 GB of free 3G data from Reliance per month for 2 months. Now they have announced the phone would come with unlimited access to Facebook and WhatsApp for two months for new and existing Reliance Comm (GSM) subscribers. LG Optimus L3 II Dual (E435) and the Optimus L7 II Dual (P715) are now available in India from online retailer Flipkart. These phones were priced on the official LG India website yesterday. The LG Optimus L3 II Dual has a 3.2-inch (320 x 240 pixels) capacitive touch screen IPS display and is powered by a 1 GHz processor. The Optimus L7 II Dual has a 4.3-inch (800 × 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen IPS display and is powered by a 1 GHz dual-core processor. Both these run on Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) and have dual SIM support with a dedicated SIM switch button. LG unveiled theOptimus L Series II devices at the MWC 2013 in February.

Nokia 105 affordable phone launching in India in April for Rs. 1200

Nokia 105, the company’s most affordable entry-level phone with a color screen would launch in India later this month, according to a recent report from Hindu Business Line. The Nokia 105 was announced at the MWC 2013 back in February. It has a 1.45-inch (128 x 128 pixels) 65k Colour TFT Display, has FM Radio support and comes with Nokia Life in select markets. This phone is based on Nokia’s Series 30 platform similar to the Nokia 100 and 101 affordable entry-level phones that were launched in India last year. Shazam, leading media engagement company has announced a partnership with Saavn, Indian music streaming service to offer a better local music discovery. Shazam has a music discovery app for leading mobile platforms including Android, iOS, Windows Phone and BlackBerry. Nokia Lumia 520 now available on Snapdeal for a price of Rs. 10,390

Nokia Lumia 520, the cheapest Windows Phone 8 device till date was recently launched in India with availability dates promised around the second week of April, but jumping ahead, it has now appeared on Snapdeal, one of the online marketplaces for phones in India. It is showing up as available for Rs. 10,390 with delivery slate as “dispatched within 15 business days” which is normal for any phone they sell. The low-mid end Windows Phone 8 device was initially set to launch globally in Q2, but, India being an important market and following the relatively good success of the Lumia 510, it seems to have been prioritized for India, which is great news for budget smartphone buyers.
