Sony launched the Xperia E1 dual along with the Xperia E1 in India last month at a price tag of Rs. 10,490. It went on sale at Rs. 9,999 and got a price cut to Rs. 9,490 few weeks back. Now the phone has received another price cut and is available for as low as Rs. 8,054 in India online. The E1 dual has a 4-inch (480 x 800 pixels) touch screen display, powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor and runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean). Sony Xperia E1 Dual Review: a loud whimper for your buck

Sony has been making a comeback of sorts. A couple of years back, they were struggling to match the competition in price and were never on par in specifications but things started to change last year, when the company rebooted the brand and design with fresh new phones, like the recent and much loved Xperia Z1 Compact. While it has amplified at the higher end with flagships like the Z2, the effect has now reached the lower end spectrum of the market. The Xperia E1 Dual is Sony’s latest jab at the entry level smartphone which replaces the good old Tipo Dual. Priced at less than 10,000 rupees, this Sony smartphone aims to satisfy the needs of a market that always wants more for less. The Sony Xperia E1 Dual is the Japanese company’s improvisation of its long time low end play. The Xperia Tipo Dual and the earlier Xperia E used to occupy this segment, and keeping up with the times, the E1 dual will now occupy the place of a low end smartphone from Sony. Armed with a dedicated Walkman button and audio enhancements with XLoud and ClearPhase, the E1 dual aims to satisfy the young hip smartphone buyer who listens to a lot of music. Something tells us this is familiar territory for the company. With a plastic body and design elements that Sony has only recently pushed forward, we give you a tour of the phone in photos.

Sony Xperia E1 Dual Unboxing

Sony has been doing a lot of things right recently. They launched their latest flagship, the Xperia Z2 at the Mobile World Congress, which really impressed us, and then there was the Xperia Z1 Compact earlier, which is easily the best “mini” device out there. But Sony is not about flagships alone, as they have a whole portfolio to care about, that cover a wide range prices. On that note, we have here, the Sony Xperia E1 Dual, which is the company’s entry level model that competes with the various Micromax and Karbonn devices of our market, let alone Samsung or Nokia. Sony has been making devices in this segment for a long time, and the last popular one in this range was the Xperia Tipo Dual. Consider the E1 Dual as a spiritual successor of the Tipo. Sony Mobile has launched the Xperia E1 and Xperia E1 dual in India. These smartphones were announced back in January and packs a 4-inch (480 x 800 pixels) touch screen display, powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor and runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean). These have a 3-megapixel rear camera and offer 100dB loud audio output through rear speakers. These have Walkman key, shake to shuffle and hardware controls for easy music control. Sony is preparing successors for last year’s Xperia E and E dual. The Xperia E1 and Xperia E1 dual has cleared FCC, as spotted by Xperia Blog. Codenames of upcoming Sony smartphones – D200X (D2004, D2005) and D210X (D2104, D2105) appeared online recently, and these upcoming Xperia smartphones have codes names Falcon SS (D200X) and Falcon DS (D210X), respectively, as mentioned on the FCC.
