Sony Xperia M and M dual with 4-inch display, 1 GHz dual-core processor, Android 4.2 announced

Sony has announced the Xperia M and M dual the company’s new mid-range Android smartphones. These phones have a 4.0-inch (800 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8227 processor with Adreno 305 GPU.  Xperia M dual comes with Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean), while the Xperia M would launch on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and is upgradable to Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash and 720p HD video recording and a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera. These phones are based on OmniBalance design similar to the Xperia Z, have LED illuminations for notification and NFC connectivity for one-touch functions. The Xperia M dual comes with dual SIM support with dual Standby. iBall has launched the Andi 4.7G Cobalt, the company’s latest flagship Android smartphone soon. It has a 4.7-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) capactitive touch screen IPS display at 312 ppi pixel density, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Cortex A7 processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 12-megapixel auto focus camera on the back with dual LED flash and range of camera features such as face beautification, smile detection, 360 degree Panorama.It has a 5-megapixel auto-focus front-facing camera. It comes with Pop Up Play, Flip To Mute,Direct Call, Gesture Unlock, OTA update functionality and Power Saving Mode.

The Zen Ultrafone 701 HD is yet another entrant into the already crowded “5 inch 720p screen, quad core processor” market that has been flooded with a lot of phones this year. LG Optimus L4 II (E440) and L4 II Dual (E445), new L Series II devices has been announced in Russia.  LG unveiled the Optimus L Series II devices, the Optimus L3 II, the Optimus L5 II and the Optimus L7 II and their dual SIM variants earlier this February. These phones have 3.8-inch (320 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen IPS display, powered by a 1 GHz MediaTek MT6575 and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). Samsung has carved out a huge market for its Galaxy range of Android phones. One of the most popular phones in the series was the Galaxy S3, clocking over 40 million units in sales as of January this year. HTC One with stock Android launching on June 26th in USA, priced at $599

HTC has finally confirmed the rumors about the HTC One running stock Android. The company just announced on its official blog that a HTC One with Nexus User Experience will be going on sale soon in the US market first. They would continue to sell the developer version and unlocked version directly to users. The HTC One with stock Android will be going on sale on Google’s Play store starting from June 26th but sadly only in the US. The handset has been priced at $599 which is lower than the price of the Galaxy S4 running stock Android which will also be going on sale on the same day for $649. Press image of the Huawei Ascend W2 has surfaced online. The phone appeared on a Chinese forum last year and specs of the phone appeared last month. The Huawei Ascend W1, the company’s first Windows Phone 8 device leaked last October, which as unveiled at the CES 2013 earlier this year. Samsung Galaxy family screen size comparison

Samsung, with a mad obsession with large screened devices, a market they themselves help pioneer, launched two huge handsets fit for their name, namely the Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 and the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3, with the respective screen sizes appended to their name. We found them quite huge, unsurprisingly, and we wanted to see how the trend has been with the Samsung’s Galaxy family of Android devices with respect to growing screen sizes. So yes, we took some devices we had with us to the launch event and put them side to side to see how the screen sizes fared against each other. BlackBerry Q10 Launching in India on June 6th in Delhi

BlackBerry showed off the BlackBerry Q10 alongside the first BlackBerry 10 device the Z10 during the BlackBerry 10 launch event back in January this year.  The Q10 is already on sale in the UK where I got my hands on one. Now the 2nd BlackBerry 10 device is making its way to India. The company has sent to invites for a launch event in Delhi on June 6th and is expected to announce the Q10 for the Indian market.

Xolo Q1000 goes official, 5 inch HD display, Quad Core processor and Android 4.2 for Rs. 14,999

Initially spotted online, the Xolo Q1000 has finally gone official, with a price tag of Rs. 14,999/- Powered by a Quad Core processor, the Xolo Q1000 has a 5 inch 1280×720 HD display, which seems to the be the benchmark of all the mid range phablet-like devices in the Indian market these days. The display is similar to the one on the Xolo A1000 launched earlier this year, and the 1.2 GHz Quad Core processor and GPU are similar to that of the Xolo Q800. Consistent with other recent Android phone releases from other brands, the Xolo Q1000 is also running on Android 4.2 Jellybean, with lockscreen widgets and notification toggles.

Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 now available on Snapdeal for Rs.24,900

Yesterday, Samsung unveiled two new Galaxy devices at a launch event in Chennai. The Galaxy Mega 5.8 and the Galaxy Mega 6.3 are the two new entrants to the new Mega series of devices solely focused on big screened smartphone computing. Out of the two devices launched, which were set to be available in India real soon, we already have the Galaxy Mega 5.8 listed as available on Snapdeal, the online retailer for a price of Rs. 24,900 which is two hundred rupees lesser than the launch price of Rs. 25,100. Although it is currently listed as sold out, we think that the devices are already trickling down into the retail channels and you will be able to get the device sooner than what Samsung said, we feel. Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 Hands on and First Impressions

Here is my first impressions of the just announced Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 which was announced yesterday in Chennai. We got some hands on time with the latest member of the Duos Dual SIM range from Samsung and the handset is also the smaller of the 2 Galaxy Mega devices announced. The phone is priced at Rs.25100 and packs a really large 5.8 inch display with a qHD resolution of 960×540 pixels. It also packs 2 microSIM card slots with a Smart Dual SIM feature.  There is 8GB of inbuilt memory on board and also room for expansion using the microSD card slot which supports cards upto 64GB.

Samsung has launched the two new Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Galaxy Mega 6.3 devices here at a launch event in Chennai. The two devices are expected to serve the purpose of the burgeoning “big screen devices” market which Samsung itself contributed in creating it with the original Galaxy Note. These “Mega” devices are true to their name and they are indeed huge. But there are two Mega devices and I am sure, you, like us, would be confused as to which is which and the exact differences between the two. So, here are some photos comparing the two Mega devices.
