Micromax launched the A88 Canvas Music, the first Music Phone in the Canvas series last month. It has a 4.5-inch (854 x 480 pixels) display and run on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It is powered by a 1 Ghz dual-core MediaTek MT6577 processor based on ARM Cortex A9 with PowerVR SGX531 GPU. Here are the benchmarks of the device compared to other Android smartphones.

Samsung launched the Galaxy Mega 6.3 (GT-I9200) in India at a price tag of Rs. 31,490 along with the Mega 5.8. The Mega 5.8 went on sale in India last month, now the Mega 6.3 is available for pre-order from online retailers Flipkart and Infibeam. The official Samsung eStore has not started taking pre-orders for the device yet. The Mega 6.3 has a 6.3-inch HD ( 1280 x 720 pixels) TFT capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.7 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). Swipe Telecom has tied-up with MTV once again to launch the MTV Volt 1000, successor of the Volt that was launched earlier this year. It has a 6-inch (854 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. This has 1GB of RAM instead of 512MB in its predecessor and the battery has gone down to 2850 mAh. Huawei Ascend Mate, the company’s latest flagship smartphone is now available in India from online retailer Infibeam. It was spotted on Flipkart along with a price tag earlier this week, but the page was removed later. It packs a 6.1-inch 720p display, powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core Hi-Silicon K3V2 processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) with Huawei’s EmotionUI 1.5 on top. It has a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, full HD video recording and a 1-megapixel HD front-facing camera. It is 9.9 mm thick and weighs 198 grams. Nokia has sent out invites to some media outlets inlcuding Pocket-Lint for an event in New York on July 11th with the tagline “Zoom Reinvented”. It is almost certain from the invite that Nokia will launch a camera centric phone. Nokia has already said that it is bringing the Lumia 925 to the US on T-Mobile during the London launch event so it is certainly not got anything to do with the Lumia 925. Could we finally have the true successor to the PureView 808 in the form of the Nokia device codenamed EOS running Windows Phone ? We have seen some recent leaks of that device.
We already reported that the Huawei Ascend Mate would launch in India priced under Rs. 30,000. The phone has now been priced in India at Rs. 28,900 on online retail website Flipkart. The Ascend Mate has a 6.1-inch 720p display, powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core Hi-Silicon K3V2 processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) with Huawei’s EmotionUI 1.5 on top. It has a 4.55-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) Reality display with mobile Bravia Engine 2 and is powered by 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm APQ 8064 processor with Adreno 320 GPU and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has IP55 and IP58 ratings for dust and water resistance. It packs a 13-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED Flash, Exmor RS sensor for HDR images and offers underwater image and video capture since it is water resistant up to 1.50 meters for up to 30 minutes.

Launched way back in January after a lukewarm reception for the Waterloo company’s new Blackberry 10 operating system, the Q10’s main aim is to bring the QWERTY keyboard that the company helped popularize, back in vogue, in a touchscreen dominated world. The device was launched after the full touch flagship, the Blackberry Z10, signaling the company’s move to a complete touch experience at its fore, but to keep the fans happy, the Q10 had to release eventually. It was February 2012, good year after the big announcement when Nokia bid a huge farewell to Symbian in the form of the Nokia 808 PureView launch at MWC. While it lost a legacy, the company actually solidified and stretched its R&D superiority in smartphone cameras. Building on the Lumia 920’s anti-shake merits, Nokia plans to do a repeat of the earlier success, but now with its main strategic flagship OS, Windows Phone. That said, we had just witnessed a barrage of leaks regarding the successor to the Nokia 808, called the Nokia EOS(a codename) PureView, with its circular camera facade housing the purported 41 MP sensor. Unsurprisingly, more images have now leaked, that add more credibility to the earlier rumour. Lets discuss and speculate with the new leaked images then.

The HTC One mini, or whatever HTC wants to call it, has been eagerly awaited as the smaller One device which will serve the mid-high range market, for people seeking decently sized devices. Today, it has leaked out in full glory thanks to the folks at Forte, an Estonian portal. The pictures and specifications of the supposed successor to the One S were outed, which fit in with similar mid-high range specs and lower pricing. The One mini is purportedly sized at 4.3 inches with a 720p display and sports the same 4MP UltraPixel camera like on the HTC One.
Lenovo has launched the S820 along with S920 in the S Series. It has a 4.7-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) 2.5D IPS curved glass display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.2.1 (Jelly Bean) with Lenovo’s custom UI on top. It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.
