Amidst a sea of 5 inch phablets in the mid range category comes Xolo’s entry, the Q1000. Launched a while back, for a price of Rs. 14,999, the device has landed in our labs for testing. The 5 inch 720p screen has been a standard in most devices in this price range and they all come with very similar specs, so we went ahead and unboxed the Xolo Q1000 for you, with an unsuspecting view of the retail box contents and some initial thoughts on the device, watch the video –

Sony Xperia ZR now available in India for Rs. 29990


Sony Xperia ZR that went on pre-order online last week is now available for purchase from online retailers in India. The durable smartphones was announced last month and has IP55 and IP58 ratings for dust and water resistance. It has a 4.55-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) Reality display with mobile Bravia Engine 2 and is powered by 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm APQ 8064 processor with Adreno 320 GPU and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It packs a 13-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED Flash, Exmor RS sensor for HDR images and offers underwater image and video capture since it is water resistant up to 1.50 meters for up to 30 minutes. HTC Desire 200 budget Android smartphone leaked

HTC Desire 200, a budget Android smartphone has surfaced Vietnamese website. HTC unveiled the Desire 600 dual SIM last month, looks like the company is slowly changing the way they name the device. The Desire 200 would feature a 3.5-inch (320 x 480 pixels) display, 1 GHz processor  and run on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) with Sense UI. It would also feature 5MP camera, Beats audio support and pack a 1400 mAh battery. The looks like an enhanced version of the Desire C that was launched last year. Micromax Canvas 4 teased again in two videos, design is all but revealed

It was only yesterday when Micromax had started the teaser campaign in Facebook for its upcoming flagship device, the Micromax Canvas 4, and as a follow up, they have released two teaser videos in their YouTube channel showing off the device in (almost) full glory. The design revealed, bears a close resemblance to some other phones we have seen, but it does seems to have an aluminium frame and the 13 Megapixel camera unit was proudly boasted in the first teaser video. The Micromax A110 Superfone Canvas 2 was the phone that kickstarted a new range of big screened smartphones from Micromax, and after the success of the Canvas HD, Micromax seems ready for yet another device, called the “Canvas 4”. Micromax launched the A88 Canvas Music, the first Music Phone in the Canvas series last month. It has a 4.5-inch  (854 x 480 pixels) display and run on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It is powered by a 1 Ghz dual-core MediaTek MT6577 processor based on ARM Cortex A9 with PowerVR SGX531 GPU. Here are the benchmarks of the device compared to other Android smartphones.

Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 up for pre-order at Rs. 30990

Samsung launched the Galaxy Mega 6.3 (GT-I9200) in India at a price tag of Rs. 31,490 along with the Mega 5.8. The Mega 5.8 went on sale in India last month, now the Mega 6.3 is available for pre-order from online retailers Flipkart and Infibeam. The official Samsung eStore has not started taking pre-orders for the device yet. The Mega 6.3 has a 6.3-inch HD ( 1280 x 720 pixels) TFT capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.7 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8MP auto-focus rear camera with LED Flash and a 1.9 MP front-facing camera. MTV Volt 1000 with 6-inch display, dual-core processor, Android 4.1 launched for Rs. 11999

Swipe Telecom has tied-up with MTV once again to launch the MTV Volt 1000, successor of the Volt that was launched earlier this year.  It has a 6-inch (854 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. This has 1GB of RAM instead of 512MB in its predecessor and the battery has gone down to 2850 mAh. Huawei Ascend Mate now available in India for Rs. 28900


Huawei Ascend Mate, the company’s latest flagship smartphone is now available in India from online retailer Infibeam. It was spotted on Flipkart along with a price tag earlier this week, but the page was removed later. It packs a 6.1-inch 720p display, powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core Hi-Silicon K3V2 processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) with Huawei’s EmotionUI 1.5 on top. Nokia “Zoom Reinvented” event in New York on July 11, could it be the Nokia EOS launch ?

Nokia has sent out invites to some media outlets inlcuding Pocket-Lint for an event in New York on July 11th with the tagline “Zoom Reinvented”. It is almost certain from the invite that Nokia will launch a camera centric phone. Nokia has already said that it is bringing the Lumia 925 to the US on T-Mobile during the London launch event so it is certainly not got anything to do with the Lumia 925. Could we finally have the true successor to the PureView 808 in the form of the Nokia device codenamed EOS running Windows Phone ? We have seen some recent leaks of that device.

The Ascend Mate has a 6.1-inch 720p display, powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core Hi-Silicon K3V2 processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean)  with Huawei’s EmotionUI 1.5 on top. It is 9.9 mm thick and weighs 198 grams. Blackberry Q10 hands on first impressions

Launched way back in January after a lukewarm reception for the Waterloo company’s new Blackberry 10 operating system, the Q10’s main aim is to bring the QWERTY keyboard that the company helped popularize, back in vogue, in a touchscreen dominated world. The device was launched after the full touch flagship, the Blackberry Z10, signaling the company’s move to a complete touch experience at its fore, but to keep the fans happy, the Q10 had to release eventually. And yes, it has finally landed in India, with a hefty price tag of Rs. 44,999. It marched into our labs the same day, and here are our first impressions of the device.
