The long wait is finally coming to an end, with today’s launch of the much expected and awaited camera flagship from Nokia. Ever since the Nokia 808 launched in February 2012, the device has been unanimously praised as the world’s best camera on a phone, and it has stayed true even now. Efforts to dethrone the 808 have been unsuccessful till now, even with Nokia’s other PureView’s cameras, but that was not really their notion anyway. The Nokia 808 PureView phase I, it was called, once the Nokia Lumia 920 released with other capabilities, which was denoted as PureView phase II. Reported claims of specifications, images, hardware shots, accessories have all leaked out to the internet way before the device has even officially launched. So, what do we know about it till now? We have an exclusive unboxing of the just announced Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom camera phone first on FoneArena which was showcased at an event in London last month where we got a hands on this super-sized camera phone.The S4 Zoom is basically a Galaxy S4 mini with a zoom lens attached to it on the back. It looks like a phone from the front but the moment you get a glimpse of that 10x zoom lens on the back, you just can’t continue to think of the Galaxy S4 zoom as a phone, it feels more like a mini version of the Galaxy Camera which was launched last year.The main difference between the two is that the S4 Zoom can make phone calls while the Galaxy Camera can’t. First there was the Galaxy Camera, then the Galaxy S4 Zoom and now the Galaxy NX. Samsung have been shoe-horning Android and mobile modems into their cameras for the better part of a year for reasons that most people, myself included struggle to understand. The Galaxy Camera was the first smart camera to be powered by the Android OS but this year, Samsung have taken a different route to introducing smart cameras with the launch of the Galaxy NX with interchangeable lenses and the Galaxy S4 Zoom. As the name implies, the Galaxy S4 Zoom is the camera equivalent of the Galaxy S4 but it does have some great benefits that will appeal to the hardcore camera users. The S4 Zoom is the first smartphone to come with 10X Optical Zoom and also features a 16MP CMOS sensor with Xenon Flash. Yes you read right – the Galaxy S4 Zoom is a smartphone with an excellent camera. The S4 Zoom remains a very unique device as it is able to make and receive phone calls and act just like a smartphone.

The Galaxy Note 8.0 launched way back in February, at the Mobile World Congress as the first 8 inch screened device in the Galaxy Note series. The surprising addition was that the cellular edition of the device could make calls and lets you use it like a phone thanks to the on-device ear piece. It was extremely awkward to see people holding a huge device to their face but worry not, we have got the 16 GB WiFi only version for review here and we are going to see whether the Note 8.0 is really worth your money. Nokia has sent out invites to some media outlets inlcuding Pocket-Lint for an event in New York on July 11th with the tagline “Zoom Reinvented”. It is almost certain from the invite that Nokia will launch a camera centric phone. Nokia has already said that it is bringing the Lumia 925 to the US on T-Mobile during the London launch event so it is certainly not got anything to do with the Lumia 925. Could we finally have the true successor to the PureView 808 in the form of the Nokia device codenamed EOS running Windows Phone ? We have seen some recent leaks of that device.
