The Samsung Galaxy S2 Review : Awesomeness Inside
The Samsung Galaxy S II – successor of the popular Galaxy S and brand new flagship device from Samsung. Whenever I bought a new device, Samsung has been one of the contenders, but ultimately some things never quite appealed to me, so I ended up either getting HTC or Nokia.
Samsung sure raised some eyebrows when they announced the SGS II, sporting some impressive features like a Dual Core ARMv7 1,2GHz processor, a super AMOLED plus display, Android 2.3 aka Gingerbread and lots and lots more. Yes I was impressed too, and with the HTC Sensation being a good device, but not completely what i wanted, I thought it was time to have a closer look at the Samsung Galaxy S II. There is a lot of demand for trial devices at Vodafone Austria (one could say now it is cause Samsung sent out a ridiculously low amount of devices), so my test period has shortened to just a week, so don’t expect an in-depth review, but rather some day-to-day impressions from the week i have spent with it. HTC Wildfire S Review
While the original HTC Wildfire was a pint-sized alternative to the flagship HTC Desire, it cut a few too many corners in order to keep its price (not to mention dimensions) down. The screen showcased an awkward 240×320 pixel resolution and as a result many Android apps and games wouldn’t even work on the phone. The device was also hindered by an anemic 528MHz processor – practically stone-age in smartphone terms – which made it a poor second to the new generation of 1GHz mobiles that hit the market in 2010.
However, despite its numerous problems, the Wildfire proved to be something of a hit with consumers, possibly because its dinky size made it a truly ‘mobile’ smartphone. Just as it has done with the Desire S, HTC is revisiting the Wildfire concept with a new device that attempts to improve on what has gone before. When HTC launched the Desire and the aluminum bodied HTC Legend, it created two of the most popular Android devices in the market. So much so that Google basically took the HTC Desire and named it the Nexus One ie the first Google phone. Fast forward to 2011 and we have the successor to the original Desire ie the Desire S. Thoughts from Hell: Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc Review Part 1 – What’s hot?
It’s been some time since i last had a Sony Ericsson smartphone in my hand. After the desaster named Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, i was almost frightened to go back to SE again. Sony sure had it’s qualities, but they kinda missed it with the X10. big time. Fast forward into 2011, Sony Ericsson seemed to have learned from their mistakes and CES was a first sign of things to come, with the introduction of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc. Slim, sexy and Gingerbread under the hood. A recipe, i thought, could breath new life into SE’s Smartphone division.
Impressed with SE’s latest try, I was eager to get my hands on the Arc. It attracted me in many ways. Even more so, when i had my hands on one shortly at the Sony Ericsson on Ice event some time ago! The time has come, when the fine folks of Sony Ericsson’s PR agency (thanks Marlene!) thankfully sent a review unit over.

Nokia X5-01 Review
Symbian is here to stay, at least for the next couple of years. So, we are here with the Nokia X5-01 review. This device was launched at CommunicAsia last June and hit Indian shores late last year.At the first look, I didn’t liked the squarish design of this device and found it a bit girly. Nokia X5-01 is an X-series phone, known for its music features. As usual, this handset comes with a special key for the music player, however the previous/rewind and next/forward keys were missing from this handset. This handset comes with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, which helps you to type fast and stay connected with your friends on the go. Nokia X5-01 runs on the Symbian S60v3 operating system and it comes with some great features such as a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, 3G connectivity and more. SPB Shell 3D for Android Review
SPB Mobile Shell is one of the essential applications I have on my Nokia N8 and previously on my older Windows Mobile phones. It is a replacement application launcher that works not only quicker and better than Nokia’s default homescreen, but also in a way that makes the device much more pleasant to use. So when SPB asked if I wanted to try out the beta for SPB Shell 3D for Android, I seized the chance. It is hard getting excited about applications these days, more so mobile applications, but I truly had high hopes for SPB.
