Outlook app for Android updated with new UI and features

Microsoft has updated the Outlook.com application for Android with a completely new user interface and lot of new features. This is a major update since the launch of the app back in November 2012. The new update bring a simple user interface similar to the Windows 8 and the outlook.com web application. Additionally this update also adds new features including conversation threading, filters for unread and flagged mail, as well as the ability to mark messages as junk. Sony Xperia SP goes on sale in India for Rs. 25490


Sony launched the Xperia SP in India last week at an MRP of Rs. 27490. The phone is now on sale from online retailer Infibeam. The Sony Xperia SP was announced last month and packs a 4.6-inch 720p HD Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2, powered by a 1.7 GHz Dual-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8960Pro processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8MP auto focus camera with LED Flash, Exmor RS sensor and a VGA front-facing camera. It also comes with pre-loaded Sony Music music streaming app that would offer 6 months unlimited music streaming and the Sony LIV video streaming app that would let you watch over 77 Sony TV shows. Amazon Android App Store coming to 200 countries including India

Amazon has announced that they would expand their App Store for Android to more than 200 countries including India, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, South Africa, South Korea, Papua New Guinea, Vatican City and more. Amazon is asking the international developers to submit their apps through the Amazon Mobile App Distribution Portal, and these apps would be available when the Amazon App Store for Android launches internationally. The Amazon app store for Android was first launched in the U.S back in 2011. The Android app was updated to support ICS devices back in January 2012. Facebook Home for Android now available for International users

Facebook released the Facebook Home app for Android on the Google Play last Friday, but it was only available in the U.S. Google Play Store.The Facebook Home launcher is now available for International users on select Android devices. It was announced earlier this month, and the HTC First is the first device to come pre-loaded with Facebook Home launcher. Facebook Home has Cover feed that offers photos and updates from your newsfeed, Notifications, Chat Heads, App Launcher to launch Facebook apps and more. Facebook for iPhone and iPad received the major update to version 6.0. This update brings Chat Heads feature for Messaging that was available for Facebook Messenger for Android last week. You can’t use chat heads outside the Facebook application like Android, but you can use it when you’re doing other stuff on Facebook, like checking your News Feed. This update also brings option to add large stickers to Facebook  messages, instead of smileys. Facebook is also rolling out improved News Feed design that was announced last month. Firefox Smartphone devices to launch in 9 countries starting from June 2013


Smartphone running on the Firefox OS would start shipping in 9 countries including Brazil, Colombia, Hungary, Mexico, Montenegro, Poland, Serbia, Spain, and Venezuela, according to a recent report from Business Insider. At AllThingsD’s D: Dive Into Mobile conference, Mozilla CEO Gary Kovacs said that the Firefox OS would launch in five countries, but Mozilla PR confirmed to Business Insider that it would be available in 9 countries starting from June 2013. Basemark X Benchmark Performance on Android devices

Basemark X

Rightware launched the Basemark X, a cross-platform benchmarking tool for Android, iPhone and iPad last week. While the iOS app is still waiting for the approval in the Apple iTunes Store, the Android application is out now. The Basemark X is built on gaming engine Unity 4, which is used in hundreds of mobile games. We managed to run the Basemark 1.0 on several high-end quad-core Android smartphones. Check out the Basemark X 1.0 Game Graphics Performance Test results below.

AOC, popular for it’s monitors and Televisions has entered into the tablet market with the launch of two new Android tablets under the Breeze category. These come in 7-inch and 9.7-inch displays, powered by a 1.5 GHz processor and runs on Android 4.1.1 (Jelly Bean). The display resolutions of these tablets are not available yet. The 9.7-inch Breeze tablet has a micro-HDMI port that would let you connect it to external devices such as Monitors, TVs, and Projectors. Samsung Galaxy S4 likely to launch in India on April 27th at around Rs.40000

The Samsung Galaxy S4 might be coming to India as soon as April 27th. The Korean smartphone giant is gearing up to launch the Galaxy S4 in several countries across the world on April 26-27th. Samsung launched the much anticipated successor to the Galaxy S3 at a launch event in New York City last month . India is a key market for Samsung and would be getting the flagship Android device pretty soon. The S4 features a 5 inch display , quad-core or octa-core processor (depending on the market), Android 4.2.2 , 13 Megapixel camera, 2600 mAh battery and many other interesting features.

Groupon India has launched the Groupon app for iPhone in India. Crazeal.com’s Indian arm was rebranded as Groupon India last year. The latest update for the Groupon for iPhone brings the option to buy Groupons in India. The Groupon app offers several deals around you, and is already available in 48 countries. It lets you buy, redeem and organize your purchases effectively. It automatically shows the best deals in your city based on your GPS location, and also has option to view deals in other cities. Alcatel One Touch Idol and One Touch Idol Ultra Android smartphones launched in India for Rs. 15800 and Rs. 21000

Alcatel One Touch has launched the One Touch Idol and One Touch Idol Ultra, new Android smartphones in India. Both these smartphones were announced earlier this year. The One Touch Idol has a 4.5-inch (540 x 960 Pixels) qHD IPS display  and the One Touch Idol Ultra comes with a 4.7-inch (720 x 1280 pixels) HD AMOLED display with Corning gorilla glass protection. These phones run on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and has a 8MP rear camera with LED Flash and 720p HD video recording. The  One Touch Idol Ultra would be featured in the Iron Man 3 movie that is releasing later this month.
