Airtel launches new WhatsApp data packs

WhatsApp is the current leader in the instant messaging app market with over 500 million monthly active users globally. In April WhatsApp CEO Jan Koum also touted that the service has over 48 million monthly active users in India.The cross platform app which was acquired by Facebook in February this year, has joined hands with Airtel to provide special data packs.

TDSAT allows 3G Intra-circle roaming pacts between Airtel, Vodafone and Idea


The Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) today cleared the 3G intra-circle roaming agreements signed between Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India and Idea Cellular by saying that the 3G intra-circle-roaming (ICR) does not violate the Unified Access Service Licence (UASL) license, reports ET. It has also quashed all penalties imposed by the Department of Telecom (DoT) on these operators last year.

Videocon Telecom to launch 4G services by December 2014

Videocon Telecommunications plans launch its 4G services using FDD-LTE technology by December 2014, according to a report by ETTelecom. It would initially launch the services in Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. At the 4G World India conference, Videocon Telecom CEO Arvind Bali said to ETTelecom that it plans to launch the services between December to January and would launch it in 10 towns initially.

NTT Docomo to exit India, sell entire stake in Tata Teleservices by June 2014

NTT DOCOMO, popular mobile solutions provider has just announced that it plans to sell the company’s entire 26.5% stake in Tata Teleservices Limited (TTSL). It entered India by investing in TTSL in March 2009. It invested 252.3 billion yen or about Rs. 13,000 crore in Tata Teleservices in March 2009 and 14.4 billion yen or Rs. 800 crore in May 2011.

Airtel launches Night Store for unlimited on-net local calling and internet all night

Airtel has launched Night Store, new night packs that would let pre-paid users enjoy unlimited on-net (Airtel to Airtel) voice calls and 2G data. It also offers limited 3G data with select packs in 3G circles and free Facebook access. These packs are applicable between 12AM to 6AM and is valid for one night. These packs are not applicable for customer who already has an active Unlimited 2G or 3G pack. Sprint rolls out Android 4.4.3 update for Nexus 5

U.S. carrier Sprint has announced that it would roll out Android 4.4.3 update (Build KTU84F) for the Nexus 5 users starting from April 14th. This is a minor upgrade that would enable LTE bands 26 and 41 and also bring some enhancements and bug fixes. Earlier reports revealed that Google would roll out Android 4.4.3 update for the Nexus devices to fix several bugs, including camera related fixes.
