The slow and steady rollout of Vodafone’s 4G network has progressed with the network now offering 4G coverage to 50% of the UK population. Less than a week after EE revealed it offers 4G to 80% of the population, Vodafone UK CEO Jeroen Hoencamp defended the 4G rollout by saying they were focusing on reliability over speed. Vodafone could acquire Virgin Media owner Liberty Global in £80bn deal

Vodafone could be set to increase the convergence of communications providers in the EU with a blockbuster takeover of Virgin Media owner Liberty Global in a deal worth a reported £80 billion. Following BT’s pursuit of O2 and EE in the UK, Vodafone have been eyeing a major ISP in response and the acquisition of/merger with Liberty Global would represent a real challenge to BT’s supposed dominance (once their deal completes). TalkTalk drops Vodafone for O2 4G

TalkTalk has announced that it is dropping its partnership with Vodafone in favour of a similar deal with O2’s parent company Telefonica. In an announcement, TalkTalk said that the deal will allow it to access O2’s 2G, 3G and 4G network and the change represents a blow for Vodafone as the telecoms operator war rises another few degrees. Vodafone UK bundles NOW TV with 4G contracts

Vodafone UK have added Sky’s NOW TV service to the list of content that Vodafone 4G customers can opt for as part of their contract. NOW TV will join Spotify, Sky Sports Mobile TV and Netflix as options available to customers in the UK.

Vodafone announces HTC Velocity 4G Europe’s first LTE device

Almost 4 years ago, LTE (Long Term Evolution) was launched and right now it’s available in several parts of the world, and it’s available in USA via Verizon and AT&T. Now LTE is finally arrived in Europe as Vodafone Germany commercially launched it in Düsseldorf, Germany – Along with Europe’s first ever device known as HTC Velocity 4G (HTC Vivid 4G), and it will be available earlier next month. LTE will be available in all over Germany by late 2012, covering 90% of the country, and they hope to reach 16 million households.
