According to a report from Reuters, a senior smartphone executive who held an important position in the smartphones division, has left the company. Ilari Nurmi was the Vice President of product marketing before he left the company, and he made Reuters aware of his departure through an email to them.

LG Nexus smartphone detailed specs surface, to be announced late October?

 

There were several rumors about the Google’s next Nexus Smartphone for the past few days. Earlier rumors from Android and Me suggested that the next Google Nexus smartphone would be LG Optimus based, but it would look similar to the Galaxy Nexus. Now detailed specs of the upcoming Nexus device has been leaked by MoDaCo. According to them, the LG’s Nexus has not been named yet, but some of the specs would be similar to the Optimus G, LG’s latest flagship smartphone that was launched  in Korea for 999,900 Korean Won (~US$900) last month. It would not come with a expandable memory slot, instead it would come in 8GB and 16GB variants, similar to the Nexus 7 and would feature an 8MP rear camera instead of 13MP camera. Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Benchmarks – quad-core Exynos CPU and Mali-400 GPU

Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 2, successor of the Galaxy Note in India last week, and we managed to get hold of the device to run some benchmarks. These benchmarks test the performance of the 1.6 GHz quad-core 4412 Exynos processor with Mali 400 GPU. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 topped in most of the benchmarks when compared to the other quad-core devices such as Samsung Galaxy S3, HTC One X and the LG Optimus 4X HD. Micromax Funbook Talk with Voice calling launched for Rs. 7249

Micromax has launched the Funbook Talk (P350), their new 7-inch tablet in the Funbook series. This tablet has a ear piece for voice calling and has 2G (GPRS) connectivity. Other features are similar to the Funbook Alpha that was launched last month including a 7-inch (800 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, 1 GHz processor with Dual Mali 400– the 2D/3D Graphics Processor and Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) OS. Google Maps web app for iOS to get Street View support

Walt Mossberg reported on the Wall Street Journal that Google will soon rolling out Street View to users of the iOS Google Maps web app. With iOS 6, Apple replaced the integrated Google Maps based solution with their homegrown offering which pales in comparison.

Nokia Xpress(beta), a cloud optimized browser that saves data & a lot more, now available for Lumia

Nokia has been toying around with a browser that compresses pages on the server side to save data consumption  for its S40 range of devices for quite a while now. The Nokia browser, as it was called when it launched, had similar functionality to the Opera Mini web browser, it saved data and made browsing much faster by compressing images and using some server side algorithms for data compression. Now, the same technology is coming to all of Nokia’s Windows Phone devices, the Lumia device range, and it is called Nokia Xpress, but alas, it carries the beta tag, for now.

Sony opens PlayStation Mobile for HTC devices

Motorola pulls out of the lawsuit filed against Apple in August

Motorola had filed a lawsuit against Apple over seven patents in August which if won would ban every device manufactured by Google from iPhone to the iMac. Now reports are that Google owned Motorola is taking a step back and pulling back the lawsuits which they had filed on import ban of Apple products.

Nokia might sell their main office in Finland to get some much needed money

Nokia is headquartered in Espoo, Finland, a city that takes less than 15 minutes to get to via bus from the center of Helsinki. The building they occupy is a stunning architectural achievement made out of steel, glass, and ample quantities of wood. According to Reuters, Nokia is so desperate for cash right now that they’re considering selling the building. It’s estimated that the property is worth between 200 million Euros and 300 million Euros. Does this mean Nokia is planning to leave Finland? No. In fact, Nokia probably isn’t even going to leave the building at all. They’ll likely sell it to someone who will then rent it out to them. This sort of arrangement means Nokia can spend less time worrying about real estate, which is a good thing, but it also means that Nokia can decide to leave the building whenever they want. Nokia Lumia 510 spotted again, specs and pricing leak out

The Lumia 510 is supposed to be Nokia’s first entry to the sub $200 smartphone market, and it was leaked out, a month ago, with pictures from China’s search engine “Baidu”. Now it has been spotted again, in pictures, and the specs and pricing have been reportedly confirmed by the anonymous tipster who sent this to GSMArena.

Gameloft introduces Duo Gamer; Bluetooth gamepad for iOS devices

Gameloft and Duo Games have partnered to launch an iOS game controller accessory which should facilitate a more console like experience on the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. The controller, called the Duo Gamer, connects over Bluetooth and is equipped with analogue sticks, a D-Pad and six buttons. The controller comes with a handy stand in which you can plug in your iOS device.
