
HONOR and Alibaba Group have signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Hangzhou, aimed at advancing AI innovation across devices and services. The partnership focuses on three major initiatives: building an AI agent ecosystem, co-developing on-device and cloud-integrated AI models, and optimizing Model-as-a-Service (MaaS).
Key Initiatives
1. AI Agent Ecosystem
Both companies will integrate strengths in large language models, smart services, and scenario-driven innovation. The collaboration will enhance high-frequency applications in:
- Mobile office
- Travel services
- Lifestyle tools
- E-commerce
- Entertainment
The objective is to establish an open and seamless AI agent ecosystem that works across devices.
2. On-Device and Cloud-Integrated AI Models
- Joint development of on-device AI models and multimodal applications with comprehension and generation capabilities.
- Delivery of hybrid AI experiences by combining Alibaba’s Qwen open-source models with HONOR’s hardware, operating system integration, and scenario-based optimizations.
3. MaaS (Model-as-a-Service) Optimization
- Advancing AI for text, image, video, and speech processing.
- Exploring customized frameworks for model training and inference through Qwen and co-developed models.
HONOR has been providing AI agent-based experiences for mobile users in China for over a year. This agreement highlights its focus on expanding real-world AI applications, while Alibaba contributes its expertise through open-source model development.
