New Nexus 7 2013 Unboxing

The all the new Nexus 7 2013 edition just landed at FoneArena and we thought we will bring you one of the first unboxings from India.The new Nexus 7 is priced at $229 and has gone on sale in the US and is expected to come soon to India but not in the immediate future.Like the previous Nexus 7 , this tablet is also manufactured by Asus for Google and sold by Google directly.The main highlights of the 2013 Nexus 7 are the design including the massive Full HD display and the change from a Nvidia Tegra 3 processor to a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor. This Nexus 7 is the first Android device to ship with Android 4.3 JellyBean out of the box which is now also available for several other devices.

Tablet shipments expected to exceed total PC shipments in 2015

IDC, the analysis company that analyses several markets every quarter has released a report that Tablet shipments are all set to overtake total PC shipments in 2015. With a rapidly growing tablet market, IDC notes that the landscape is changing after the flood of low cost Android tablets with screen sizes less than 8 inches, which might contribute as much as 57% of the total tablet market in 2017, while the rest is constituted by bigger tablets, mostly the iPad. The iPad mini too might be a  proven driver in the sales of small tablets.

Zync Quad 10.1 Tablet Review

The world of budget Android tablets has been set ablaze by the likes of Zync and Spice who are constantly innovating and bringing high performance products at very affordable price points. Sure these devices still can’t compete with the iPads of the world but that is not the target audience. Delivering 90% of the experience at a fraction of the price point is what they aim to do and are quite successful at.  That said, we recently got our hands on the newly announced Zync Quad 10.1 Tablet. Intel Silvermont architecture targets high performance with low power consumption

Intel today announced the next step of its mobile strategy. The Silvermont architecture is a complete departure from the Clover Trail and Clover Trail+ chips that Intel has been pushing since 2008. With a switch to yearly update cycles, the company hopes to be much more competitive in the extremely hot mobile chipset segment.

Asus FonePad Unboxing

The FonePad is one of the first Intel Atom Z2420  powered Android tablets to hit the market. Asus announced the FonePad at MWC 2013 this year along with the Padfone Infinity. The “FonePad” as the name suggests is a 3G tablet and phone packed into a 7 inch tablet form factor at an affordable price point. Yes there are a couple of microphones and an earpiece on the device and you can actually put the FonePad to the ear and make a phone call although we don’t know if it will look cool. The tablet comes in 2 colours – Champagne Gold and Titanium Gray. Here is a video where we unbox the Champagne Gold version of the Asus FonePad.

Sony Xperia Tablet Z Hands On

At its press event in Barcelona, Sony showed off its brand new Android tablet, the Sony Xperia Tablet Z. Equipped with a gorgeous 10.1″ WUXGA display, the tablet also has Sony’s Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 built in.

The screen with a resolution of 1900 x 1200 looks absolutely stunning especially when the Mobile Bravia engine kicks in for photos and videos. Lenovo A3000 Photo Gallery

Alongside the Lenovo S6000, the company also announced a smaller 7 inch tablet called the A3000. The display is slightly lower resolution at 1024 x 600 pixels but is of the IPS variety with pretty good viewing angles. The contrast ratio, color quality and brightness are definitely quite good.


The tablet isn’t the slimmest we’ve seen with a 11mm profile but the weight is manageable at just under 340grams. The A3000 easily slips into a jacket pocket.  Continue reading “Lenovo A3000 Photo Gallery”

HP Slate 7 Photo Gallery

Earlier today, HP unveiled it’s first Android tablet, the Slate7! We’ve spotted HP’s budget entry into the Android world tonight at the Pepcom event and switched on the cameras. We’ve managed to get our hands on the red version and were immediately surprised by the good first impression. The biggest advantage of the Slate7? Its price! Starting at just USD 169, HP is ready to enter an already crowded market. So, what’s the Slate7 all about?

HCL ME Y3 Tablet Photo Gallery

HCL today launched the ME Y3, the company’s latest entrant into the crowded Android tablet market alongside the ME U1 and ME Y3. We got some hands on time with the tablet and did a short photo gallery. The 7inch tablet has a resolution of 1024×600. Sony XPERIA Tablet Z announced for Japan

The XPERIA Tablet Z which was rumoured to launch at CES 2013 has finally got officially announced for the Japanese market today. This sexy looking Android tablet is barely 6.9mm thick and weighs around 495 grams. It is also dustproof and waterproof to a certain extent. The display is 10.1 inches in size and features the Mobile Bravia Engine found on most Sony mobile products these days. The resolution on the display is an impressive 1920×1200 pixels.The design looks very similar to the XPERIA Z and ZL smartphones we saw at CES 2013. Spice today announced its latest product, the Stellar Pad Mi-1010 tablet. The tablet is equipped with an HD IPS display and is powered by a 1.5Ghz dual core processor. There’s also a quad core GPU on board. The tablet is one of the few models running Jellybean 4.1 in India as of now.
