I have to admit I have been a fan of the iPad mini form factor ever since it was introduced and have owned several versions. Over the last few days, I have spent some time with the latest generation of the iPad mini and absolutely loved it. The iPad mini is not for all but it is a great device and the form factor calls for some interesting use case. Here are my thoughts in this article.
Apple is reportedly working on 5th-gen iPad mini and entry-level 10-inch iPad for 2019. The manufacturing is already underway this month. Back in 2012, Apple showed the first signs of listening to the audience when they launched a smaller iPad after vehemently denying any such possibility. The iPad Mini aimed to be the best small tablet on the market and the company arguably delivered with the device still seeing demand after 3 years. Now, it is time to say goodbye to the original. At the time when iPhone 6 launch is inching closer, a new report about the iPad is creating a buzz. According to a report from TechNews.tw, Apple’s next generation iPad Air will have a powerful RAM.
Apple had introduced the original iPad Mini without the RETINA display and that pretty much confirmed that the second generation of Apple iPad Mini would come with the RETINA display. As expected, Apple crammed a high resolution display(same resolution as the iPad Air) into the second generation iPad Mini which Apple calls – iPad Mini with Retina Display. In addition to sporting a high resolution display, the iPad Mini competes with Apple’s iPad Air in terms of specifications. Apple is using the same processing power inside each of its flagship iOS device – iPhone 5s, iPad Air and iPad Mini with Retina Display.
Logitech is a popular computer accessories company and with the market shifting to mobile devices like smartphones and tablet, they have too adapted their products. Today, Logitech has announced a new range of accessories for the iPad Air and iPad mini. The accessories that were unveiled today include an Ultrathin Keyboard Cover, Ultrathin Keyboard Folio and Folio Protective cases for the newly launched iPad Air. Apple’s latest iPad mini with Retina display also gets a couple of accessories for itself in the form of Ultrathin Keyboard Folio and Folio Protective cases.
iPad Air and iPad mini with retina display are Apple’s latest generation iPads. The bigger of the two – iPad Air was redesigned to be lighter, thinner and smaller than its predecessor while the smaller among the two – iPad mini with Retina display was muscled up with a better display and a much better processor making it slightly bigger and heavier. With this contradictory approach to the new generation iPads, Apple has achieved a subtle balance between its two iPads.
Google and Apple haven’t really considered India as a potential market in the previous years, but things are changing pretty soon as all the products are arriving pretty soon in India. Google launched the latest Nexus 7 2013 sometime in July and the product has been available in India for nearly a month. On the other hand, the iPad mini with Retina display has been just launched. Both the tablets are in the second iteration and have amazing high resolution displays.
By launching the iPad Mini with Retina Display relatively early in India, Apple is showing that it is beginning to value the Indian market. Last year, when Apple announced a smaller iPad called as the iPad Mini, it missed one of the vital aspects – Retina Display; yet sold in large numbers. The tech industry was pretty sure an iPad Mini with Retina Display was coming in 2013 and as expected Apple announced the iPad Mini with Retina Display.
At last the wait for the next generation iPads to launch in India is over. Apple has today introduced the iPad Air as well as the iPad Mini with Retina display here in the country. The tablets will be officially unveiled at an event later today however the prices are already available. In contrast to the previous generation, the iPad Mini and full size iPad are almost at par in terms of specifications with the key difference being the screen size difference. Both iPads are powered by the new 64 bit A7 chip though the clock speeds differ slightly. Continue reading “iPad Mini with Retina display, iPad Air launched in India”
Apple has just announced that the much anticipated iPad Air would be going on sale in India on December 7th at a Maximum Retail Price of Rs.35,900 for the base 16GB WiFi only version. The iPad mini with Retina display is also launching in India for Rs.28900 for the base 16GB WiFi only version. There is no news about the Cellular/3G versions as of now but they might go on sale at a later date. The new iPads would be available in Silver and Space Gray colours. Decent pricing considering that 1 USD is trading for almost Rs.62 currently. The same iPad Air would cost around Rs.34000 in the US and the iPad mini Retina would cost Rs.27000 approximately.
