LG had quite a disappointing year in 2015 due to lackluster sales of the LG G4. The G4 was a brilliant smartphone in many ways but still failed to gain momentum owing to a few factors. The primary factor being the build quality and materials used. Samsung had to find out the hard way about how essential the build quality and premium feel is for handsets, especially flagships. LG too have learnt that by now and their new flagship, the G5 is an indication of the new direction they are heading in. But there was a handset that was released last year that received lesser attention than it should, the LG V10. On paper at least, the smartphone seemed to offer one of the most complete packages in the flagship category. In this review, we will be taking a look at the smartphone in detail and seeing whether or not all the impressive features and specifications actually impress us in real life too.

LG G5 supports Qualcomm QuickCharge 3.0 but Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge don’t

Earlier, it was expected that if you pack the latest processor from Qualcomm, it would in effect be able to have the fast charging properties of the particular processor. However, the OnePlus 2 showed that it is possible to remove the fast charging abilities if needed.  Similarly, now it seems that Samsung have bundled only QuickCharge 2.0 with their Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge while LG’s G5 is capable of doing QuickCharge 3.0.

LG G5 will not be powered by a Snapdragon 820 processor in Latin America

This year at MWC, we saw LG and Samsung go head to head with their new flagships, the G5 and Galaxy S7/S7 Edge respectively. One of the many things that the handsets have in common is that they will be having a Snapdragon 820 variant. However, it seems that while Samsung will be offering a similarly high end Exynos 8890 chipset in other regions, LG will opt for a lower end processor to power its flagship instead.

LG G5 and Samsung Galaxy S7 lack support for adoptable storage

LG G5 and Samsung Galaxy S7 were announced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2016). Both the flagships sport high-end specifications and most importantly support for expandable storage. However, both these devices are missing an important Android Marshmallow feature.

This week was all about cheapest Android smartphone launched in India for Rs. 251. Ringing Bells – a Noida-based company – launched the Freedom 251 and the world went crazy. The company doesn’t have any history in making smartphones and anything else. All we know about the Ringing Bells is that it launched a very cheap 4G smartphone earlier this month, Smart 101 at Rs. 2,999.

LG has an entire X series smartphone lineup planned for 2016

LG announced the X Cam and X Screen smartphones yesterday with dual cameras and dual screens respectively. The smartphones will be showcased at MWC 2016 before they go on sale in March. However, it seems that LG have many more devices coming up in the X series lineup in 2016.

LG G5 shows up on Geekbench – Snapdragon 820 and 4GB RAM confirmed

The upcoming flagship from LG is now receiving a lot of limelight. After revealing that the G5 will have an “Always On” display in a teaser, a new listing on Geekbench confirms the fact that the smartphone will have 4GB of RAM and will be powered by a Snapdragon 820 processor.

LG White Card surfaces online – Required for LG Pay service

Just like Samsung has Samsung Pay, LG is also hard at work to bring their own payment service which will be called LG Pay. While the name certainly doesn’t stand out, the way in which it works might. Apparently, users will need a separate device called as White Card in order to use the service.
