The upcoming flagship from LG is now receiving a lot of limelight. After revealing that the G5 will have an “Always On” display in a teaser, a new listing on Geekbench confirms the fact that the smartphone will have 4GB of RAM and will be powered by a Snapdragon 820 processor.
While the fact that it will be powered by a Snapdragon 820 processor isn’t shocking, it still is good to see a confirmation before the event itself. This would put the phone on par with the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge models at least in their Snapdragon 820 powered variant. Whether the Exynos variant of the Samsung phones will be more powerful remains to be seen.
4GB of RAM is also expected and the model number in the Geekbench listing is F700S. Typically the S moniker usually belongs to SK Telecom specific handsets in South Korea which is LG’s home ground. Previously, LG used the model numbers F500 and F600 for the LG G4 and V10 respectively so this should naturally point towards the LG G5 itself.
The LG G5 is set for a launch on February 21st at 2 PM in Barcelona, Spain just a day before the MWC kicks off. Samsung will also be announcing the S7 lineup there and thus, there will be a lot of new handsets to drool upon.
