Jony Ive is now Apple’s Chief Design Officer

Jony Ive, who has been Apple’s Senior Vice President of Design for many years has just been made the Chief Design Officer at Apple. The position was specifically created for him and the change was confirmed in an email that was sent by Tim Cook (CEO of Apple) to all the employees.

A closer look at the HTC One M9’s design

Before announcing the One M9 at an event today in Barcelona, HTC was keen to emphasize design, with a video that detailed the company’s previous efforts. Starting with the M7 and eventually leading up to its latest flagship device, the video was meant to tell you only one thing – HTC is really serious about design. This has been evident in their products ever since the M7, the leading design that has trickled down really well in their portfolio, even with different materials in devices like the Desire 820. The Re camera is also an example of good design, where ergonomics have taken higher preference. In the One M9’s case, it’s metal. As we had mentioned in our hands on, the One M9 is a product of refinement, with subtle changes in design that easily escape attention. Samsung design chief replaced amidst lukewarm Galaxy S5 response

Chang Dong-hoon, head of the mobile design team at Samsung Electronics offered to resign last week and has since been replaced according to a report published by Reuters. Lee Min-hyouk, the VP for Mobile Design at Samsung will be replacing Chang. Lee is well known for being the youngest senior executive at Samsung. Bing gets a facelift on Windows Phone, adds new design and features

Bing, Microsoft’s answer to Google, is the default search app on Windows Phone with a dedicated key. The service received a substantial upgrade with the Windows Phone 8 update that brought panoramic quick access to relevant stories at that point in time. Otherwise the results have been similar since the inception of the OS and that has finally changed, with the new rollout that has started for the Bing Search app in Windows Phone. The new update brings a new layout and new features based on the Bing Neural network that works similar to the Knowledge graph from Google.

BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9981 review

For all the claims that RIM is dead, they still have a stronghold on the corporate sector. So how do you create a product for the discerning CEO and set it apart from the millions of other BlackBerry devices out there ? The aim  here was not to attain the best performance or best in class camera but to a device which would sets them apart. Something which would be unique enough to show that they have arrived.

The Porsche brand is a symbol of automative excellence. The Blackberry is a CEO’s best friend. Sometime back, the two decided to get together and create a product which combines high end materials and design abilities of Porsche along with the business ready nature of a Blackberry. When Porsche Design CEO Huergen Gessler decided to speak to Blackberry about a prospective collaboration, one thing led to another and the Porsche Design P’9981 was born.
