Qualcomm plans for Nuvia-based laptop chips in 2022 to compete with Apple M1
The new Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon in an interview with Reuters confirmed that it will start selling Nuvia-based laptop chips next year. Qualcomm completed the acquisition of NUVIA, a CPU and technology design startup, for $1.4 billion earlier this year. Nuvia was founded ex-Apple employees who left Apple in 2019 before the introduction of Apple M1 chip in 2020 that powers new MacBook Air and iPad Pro models. Apple and Intel reportedly begin testing chip designs with TSMC’s 3nm process technology
Apple and Intel will reportedly be the first major companies to build chips with TSMC’s 3nm process technology. The two companies are currently testing chip designs with this technology, and will likely mass-produce these chips for devices slated to launch in the second half of the next year.
Sony Xperia 5 III price and availability revealed for Europe
Sony unveiled the Xperia 5 III along with the Xperia 1 III back in April. At that time, the company did not reveal any pricing and availability details. It has now announced that the Xperia 5 III will be available in Europe for €999 (US$ 1,181 / Rs. 88,275 approx.) and the Xperia 1 III will cost €1,299 (US$ 1,536 / Rs. 1,14,775 approx.) in Europe. Airtel has launched Airtel Black that lets bundle 2 or more of Airtel services (Fiber, DTH, Mobile) together. This entitles the customer to one single bill, one Customer Care number with a dedicated team of relationship managers, and priority resolution of faults and issues, says the company. This doesn’t have any additional costs or installation cost, and comes with free service visits for life. The company launched a similar plan last year for select circles. PLI Scheme: Dell, Wistron, Foxconn, Flextronics, Lava and Micromax among 14 approved companies
Ministry of Electronics and Information and Technology (MeitY) has approved 14 eligible applicants under the Scheme (PLI) for IT Hardware. A total of 19 companies filed applications for the PLI scheme in May. PLI Scheme for IT Hardware, extends an incentive of 4% to 2%/1% on net incremental sales (over base year of FY 2019-20) of goods under target segments that are manufactured in India to eligible companies, for a period of four years. This scheme for a period of 2020-21 till 2024-25 has been extended by one year, i.e. till 2025-26.
