Samsung has finally started rolling out Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) update for the Galaxy S3 in India. Samsung started rolling out Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) update for the Galaxy S3 starting from Poland and select European countries in September. The Jelly Bean update would brings would bring  faster performance, Reorganized settings menu, 2 Homescreen modes, S Note,  Google Now service, contextual search, Better notifications, Re-sizable Pop-up play screen and more. Sony Xperia T and Xperia TX Android 4.0.4 update brings Miracast Mirroring and Extended Standby

Sony Mobile has has started rolling out Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) update for Xperia T and Xperia TX that brings new features such as Micracast Screen Mirroring, Extended Standby Mode and Media apps such as WALKMAN, Album and Movies. This update would would also bring HD Voice capabilities for the Xperia T. Sony recently announced Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) update for both the Xperia T and Xperia TX, but this minor update brings some nice features for the Xperia T and TX owners. Angry Birds Space, Cut The Rope arrive in the Windows Phone Store


Two most popular games, Angry Birds Space and Cut The Rope are now available in the Windows Phone Store. Rovio has released the Angry Birds Space for Windows Phone 8 devices, while the Cut The Rope is available for devices running on Windows Phone 7.5 and above. Gameloft has also announced that they would launch 12 games including popular games such as Asphalt 7 and N.O.V.A. 3 would be available for Windows Phone 8 devices in coming months. Nokia bags No.3 spot in Brand Equity Most Trusted Brands 2012 survey


Nokia has retained its top spot in the Most Trusted Brands in the 2012 list, according to the Economic Times Brand Equity survey for 2012. The company held the No: 1 spot for 3 years in a row from 2008 to 2010, but slipped to 5th spot in 2011 survey. In this year’s survey Nokia moved up to the 3rd spot. This survey identifies brands that have won that most special attribute Economic Times has add more markets such as Patna, Indore and Vijayawada hence making the survey more geographically representative. Google Nexus 7 launching in India at Rs. 19,999


Asus announced few months back that the Nexus 7 would be available in India in November. Asus has now confirmed to us that the Nexus 7 would go sale in India from tomorrow at an MRP of Rs. 19,999. Google announced the Nexus 7, their first Android tablet with Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) in June at Google I/O for $199. Google unveiled the 32GB and a 3G variants of the Nexus 7 few weeks back. Asus VivoTab RT TF600 TG launched in India for Rs. 61,999


Asus has launched the VivoTab RT TF600 TG in India. Asus announced the Windows RT tablet at Computex in June, then renamed it from Tablet 600 to Vivo Tab RT later at IFA in August. It has a 10.1-inch (1366×768 pixels) LED Backlight Super IPS+ display with 10 fingers multi-touch display and is powered by a NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor. It runs on Windows 8 RT OS . LG launches Pink Optimus Vu 2 in Korea

LG has launched Optimus Vu 2 in Illusion Pink color in South Korea. The LG Optimus Vu 2 was announced in September and was available in Blue-Black and Illusion White colors in October. Foursquare for iPhone updated with ratings for places

Foursquare for iPhone has been updated to version 5.3.3 that brings new rating system for places. When you search for places you can see the scores on a scale of 1 to 10 next to the name of the place to show how popular it is. Facebook for iPhone and iPad v5.1 update brings new upload flow, photo filters and more

Facebook for iPhone and iPad has been updated to version 5.1 that brings new features including new upload UI to select multiple photos or videos at once, photo filters, new messaging features including option to quickly see who is online to chat, manage favorite friends and more. Some of these features were available in the version 1.9.8 and version 1.9.10 updates, but the photo filters is not available on the Android app yet. Huawei MediaPad 7 Lite officially launched in India for Rs. 13,700, MediaPad 10 FHD available in December

Huawei has officially launched the MediaPad 7 Lite, their new 7-inch Android tablet with 3G and voice calling facilities. It was announced earlier this August and went on sale in India online at the end of October. Huawei has also announced that the MediaPad 10 FHD that was announced back in February would be available in India in December. The MediaPad 7 Lite has a 7-inch (1024 x 600 pixels) IPS multi-touch display and is powered by a 1.2GHz Cortex A8 processor. It has 3G support with voice calling, SMS and MMS. The MediaPad 10 FHD has a 10.1-inch (1920 x 1200 pixels) HD IPS display and is powered by a 1.5 GHz K3 quad-core processor. Idea Cellular has introduced  iRoam special International Roaming Offer for its postpaid subscribers. This new pack offers up to 75% discount on International Roaming services such as Incoming Calls, Outgoing Calls, SMS and Data. This is applicable for Idea postpaid subscribers visiting 37 countries including UAE, USA, Singapore, UK, Thailand, China, Germany, France, Switzerland, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, Italy and more. This lets the customers make and receive calls and SMS and use Data at nominal cost using their Idea number. Customers can send an SMS from their Idea postpaid number to activate the respective packs. TRAI limits 100 SMS per day at concessional rates, extra charges beyond the limit


The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has issued a new directive to prevent pesky marketing SMS. They restricted mobile users from sending more than 100 SMS / day per SIM starting 27th September 2011, and later increased the SMS limit to 200 last November. Now they have announced that the limit would be reduced to 100 SMS per day per SMS for customers using SMS packs, but a minimum amount of 50 paise per SMS would be charged for SMS beyond that limit. Windows Phone 8 Review

Back in 2010 when Microsoft introduced its brand new take on the smartphone dubbed Windows Phone, it was a brand new take on how a smartphone should work. Gone was the desktop-inspired UI and the inherent sluggishness, dependence on stylus input. The new and improved OS was designed ground up for a more modern world but inside was ticking the same core which brought along with it several limitations. Today we have yet another reboot but this time with a brand new core while retaining the best of and improving on the rest of the experience.

In our Windows Phone 8 preview we touched upon some of the more obvious changes in the OS.  We’ll be taking a look at those in addition to the MANY other new features in the OS in a step by step manner below.
