Locket lets you make money through ads on your Android lockscreen

locket-make-money-android-1

“Why didn’t any one think of this before?” was the first thought that came to my mind when I read about Locket, a new innovative advertising platform that resides on your.. wait for it.. lockscreen! Yes, Locket is a simple app that displays ads on your lockscreen, and if you thought that was too intrusive, they make it up to you by letting you share their profits. With phones getting larger and larger, the screen real estate has indeed become prime property of advertisers looking at innovative ways to reach the end user. The lockscreen especially is almost always largely unused and a thing that’s always looked at, when you open the screen, and this is the exact space which Locket takes advantage of. Here is a quick promo to show how it works –

Google reports $14.11 billion in revenue for Q2 2013

Google Logo

Google’s financial results for Q2 2013 are out and the company has reported revenues of $14.11 billion which is an increment over the $12.21 billion it had reported last year for the same quarter. Net income too has gone up to reach $3.23 billion with earnings of $9.56 per share. The results missed predictions that revenues would touch $14.5 billion with an expectation of growth being 20 percent. Unfortunately this slightly missed estimates with actual growth being 19 percent YoY. Motorola was one of the arms at Google that resulted in losses with the company having cost $998 million. Motorola reported operating losses of $342 million which we guess can be attributed to the R&D efforts in place. Google’s stock closed 7.87 points down at 910.68. The company is scheduled to host an Android centric event later this month where it will show off the next version of its popular mobile operating system alongside refreshed hardware.

Xolo launched the Q1000, the company’s latest flagship in the ‘Q CORE’ series back in May. Celkon had also launched the A119Q Signature HD, successor of the A119 Signature HD back in May. We review both the Q1000 and the A119Q recently since these had similar features such as 5-inch HD display, quad-core processor and Android 4.2.1 (Jelly Bean). Even though Xolo has come up with a Tegra 3-powered Xolo Play T1000, Celkon is yet to released their next flagship device. Both these devices are priced under Rs. 15,000.  We managed to compare both these devices.
