Google has released an update for the Chrome app for iPhone and iPad to version 28.0.1500.12 that brings Google Apps integration, fullscreen browsing to iPad  and option sign in to other Google apps with a single click. This would let you open Maps, YouTube, Google+, and Google Drive links in the dedicated apps app instead of browser. Google promises that more apps would be available soon. Nokia Q2 2013 results out, 7.4 million Lumia smartphones shipped

Nokia just published it’s Quarter 2 2013 results and posted an operating loss of EUR 115 million over revenues of Eur 5.695 billion. The device and services division in particular had losses to the tune of Eur 33 million which is below than expected. The Nokia Siemens (NSN) division made Eur 8 million over the last quarter which helped offset losses from other arms of the Finnish company. We also recently saw that the Nokia Lumia 520 has risen to the position of being the most popular Windows Phone in the world, and had hoped that it reflect positively on the results. Looks like it has indeed happened with them announcing a grand total of 7.4 million units of Lumia smartphones sold this quarter, which is up from 5.6 million last quarter.

Samsung launched the Galaxy Mega 6.3 (GT-I9200), the company’s first smartphone with a 6.3-inch display back in May in India. It went on sale in India last month. We brought you the unboxing of the Mega 6.3 earlier this week. Here we have the benchmarks of the device. The Galaxy Mega 6.3 is the first smartphone to launch in India with a dual-core Snapdragon 400 MSM8930 chip clocked at 1.7 GHz. It is based on Krait 300 architecture and 28nm process. It has Adreno 305 GPU . Let’s find out how the phone fairs up in benchmarks when compared to other devices.

HTC One Mini goes official with a 4.3 inch 720p display and Snapdragon 400 in tow

The long rumoured and heavily leaked HTC One Mini has finally gone official. Filling the space left by the HTC One S, the One mini will be sporting a smaller display and more modest specs, when compared to its bigger brother and flagship, the HTC One. While the design and the looks are almost exactly the same as the One, the internals are different with predictable cost cutting done in the favour of a lower price. So, in any case, this isn’t a smaller flagship like most people expect it to be. While the camera is the same 4MP UltraPixel camera as the One, it loses the OIS functionality, and if you are keen enough to notice the lack of a vertical band above the camera, which is now occupied by the flash, there is no NFC on this either.

Samsung has launched the Galaxy Tab 3 310 (SM-T310) and the Galaxy Tab 3 311 (SM-T311), 2 new tablets in India at an event in Delhi. It was announced last month as Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 and packs a 8-inch (1280×800) IPS LCD capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.5GHz dual core processor  and runs on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) with Samsung’s own TouchWiz UI on top. It has a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. Unlike the Galaxy Note 510, this doesn’t come with stylus support. The Tab 3 310 is the WiFi-only variant and the Tab 3 311 comes with 3G support via SIM card slot and voice calling capabilities. Samsung has launched the Galaxy Tab 3 211 in India. It was announced back in April as the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 and packs a 7-inch (1024×600) TFT LCD display, powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a 3-megapixel fixed focus rear-facing camera and 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. It also comes with 3G support via SIM card slot and voice calling capabilities similar to the Galaxy Tab 2. Next-gen Nexus 7 leaks out ahead of launch

The original Nexus 7 was launched more than a year ago and over the past six months we have been hearing about the next-gen Nexus 7 rumors. The upcoming Nexus 7 successor finally makes its appearance in front of the camera. Ahead of Google event on July 24th, leaked pricing of upcoming Nexus 7 and live pictures – all these suggest that it would go real pretty soon. Google schedules a press event on July 24th with new Android chief Sundar Pichai

The latest version of Google’s Android – 4.2 Jellybean was announced nearly 8 months ago and we did not get to see the new version even in the Google I/O event held during May. However, we may soon get the next version as Google is holding a press event with Android and Chrome’s chief Sundar Pichai on 24th July. LG has officially announced that the next smartphone in the ‘G’ Series would be simply called the LG G2 without the Optimus branding. It said that  in order to strengthen the brand of premium product phase than the ‘ G ‘ series, it decided to drop the ‘Optimus’ branding. It  added that the future smartphones in the same series will carry only the G name while the branding of mobile devices that have already been introduced will continue unchanged. HP has launched the Slate 21, the company’s first All-in-One (AiO) PC running runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) along with the Slatebook x2 in India. It was announced last month and has a 21.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) full HD capacitive reclining IPS touchscreen display with wide viewing angles and is powered by a quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor. You can tilt the screen between 15 and 70 degrees with your hand and can also mount the AiO using a standard VESA mount. HP Slatebook x2 Android convertible launched in India for Rs. 39,990

Ever since the HP slate that launched at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona, HP had started its Android on-slaught with more devices. Sometime back, HP launched the Slatebook X2, a convertible Android tablet with a keyboard dock that made it work like a laptop too, if needed. This is the standard on most Windows 8 tablets and the trend was started way back, by the ASUS transformer, which has been caught up by other companies such as HP.

The SlateBook X2 has a 10.1-inch (1920 by 1200 pixels) IPS display, powered by a quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor and runs on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean). Surprisingly, the full sized detachable keyboard dock has a touch pad too. The Keyboard dock has a full HDMI port, USB 2.0, an SD slot, and an audio port. It also has a battery that would act as a charger when docked.

LG Optimus L5 gets the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update in India

The LG Optimus L7 got the Android 4.1 update in India back in May, now LG has started rolling out the Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) update for the Optimus L5 (E612) users in India.  The Optimus L5 was announced back in February 2012 and released in India last June. The software version is JZO54K similar to the other countries and the software version is V20c. All the L Series II devices that were launched recently run on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) out of the box. WhatsApp moves to subscription-based model on iOS at $0.99/year


WhatsApp collected for $ 0.99 as a one time payment for the iPhone app. Now the company has changed their  business model that would offer the app free for the first year after that the user would be charged $.99  (~Rs. 55) per year after that, similar to other platforms such as Android and Windows Phone. If you had purchased the app already or downloaded the app when it went free it will remain free for the rest of your life.
