Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 confirmed to launch later this year


Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, the company’s flagship SoC, at the Snapdragon Summit 2025 earlier this year. At the end Alex Katouzian, Group GM of Mobile, Compute & XR, Qualcomm teased the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5.

He said that the company is introducing the new chip to bring more choice and flexibility while offering the flagship features. He said that the chip will launch later this year without revealing any other details.

Based on earlier rumours from leaker Digital Chat Station, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 will feature the model number SM8845 and offer better performance compared to than the Snapdragon 8s series chips.

The 8 Gen 5 is said to use the same TSMC N3p process as 8 Elite Gen 5, self-developed Oryon CPU architecture with speed exceeding 4.0GHz, and some IP and GPU architecture will also be the same.

OnePlus has confirmed that it will use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip in its phone in China. This is expected to be the OnePlus Ace 6 series, which is expected in December.

realme is said to be testing the next Neo series phone for the Chinese market with MediaTek Dimensity 9500e or Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip, the leaker revealed last month. There are also rumours of OPPO K15 using the chip.
