As you know by now, we are live from the Nokia Lumia 925 launch event in London, and we have had some hands on time with the device today. After we were done with the Nokia Lumia 925 photo gallery, we thought it might be fun to compare it with the other leading flagship devices like for example, the Samsung Galaxy S4. Instagram for Windows Phone might go official soon, hinted by @InstagramWP twitter account

Only today did Nokia announce a new app in partnership with hipastamatic, which co-incidentally could share photos to Instagram. But as a surprise, we spotted this @InstagramWP account – which claims to be the official twitter account for THE official Instagram client for Windows Phone. While trying to check the credibility, we found that the official Nokia account was actually its first follower, adding more clarification to our doubts. So, yes, the official Instagram app for Windows Phone might be just around the corner then, yay?

Nokia Lumia 925 has a “world’s first” 6 element smartphone lens and can go up to ISO 3200

Right when we were thinking what was new with the Nokia Lumia 925’s camera, we just happened to see some tweets from Nokia’s Imaging team. Having launched the device in London today, Nokia have confirmed that the Lumia 925 has a slightly updated camera, both in terms of hardware and software. In terms of hardware, the Lumia 925 is supposedly featuring a “world’s first” 6 element lens, unlike the usual 5 element lenses on various smartphones. On the software front, apart from all the Smart Camera features, the camera can go up to ISO 3200 now, whereas ISO 800 was the previous limit on the Lumia 920. For comparison sakes, the Nokia 808 PureView can go up to ISO 1600.

The 8.7 megapixel camera-toting Lumia 925 is almost similar to the Lumia 920 in terms of specifications, but the design, now with the aluminium build has changed a lot. We were at the event live, while the phone was announced, and now, we have got some hands on time with the device. Hipstamatic brings Instagram sharing to the Nokia Lumia

We are live from the Nokia Lumia 925 event in London, and Nokia just announced, along with the Lumia 925 that Hipstamatic, a popular photo sharing app on iOS, is coming to Windows Phone and it is going to be one of the first official apps on the Windows phone store that can share directly to your instagram account. The app is called Hipstamatic Oggl and has various filters and a beautiful camera UI, with features you would expect from a photo filters app. This app recently launched in iOS and it is now on Windows Phone already. It has its own community and that’s the term “Oggl” refers to, you can share, like and comment on pictures.

We have been comparing the ASUS Fonepad with various small tablets here at our labs. We recently compared it with the Galaxy Note 8.0 aka Note 510 and found it quite different from the latter. However, in this comparison, we feel that both these devices are currently pegged head-to-head. Nokia accessories DC-18 battery pack and BH-118 mono bluetooth headset photo gallery

Along with the Asha 501, Nokia also introduced some new gear at the grand event that happened in New Delhi. Amongst the loads of accessories displayed at the event, we spotted some new ones, which includes the Nokia DC-18, a new portable battery pack launched along with the Asha. There was also the BH-118, a mono bluetooth headset with a dock, which looked weird yet useful. The above photo is of the DC-18, of which we have more photos below and the others too.

Nokia Asha 501 Overview and First Impressions

Nokia Asha 501, the company’s latest attempt at out-innovating the low end smartphone market, was launched today in New Delhi and we got some fair play time with the device. Based on the new Nokia Asha platform, the device was previously demoed by Nokia’s Peter Skillman, who led the whole effort of bringing the intuitive N9 UI to the low end. Nokia Asha 501 full touch phone with swipe UI announced

Nokia Asha 501, a new full touch device with swipe UI, and part of a whole new Asha series of devices has been announced at a global press conference here, in New Delhi. In an effort to revitalize the ever important budget low end smartphone market, which is currently inundated with Android phones, Nokia has released a tiny device that, they hope, can help them gain more traction in the highly competitive market. The Asha platform with touch UI. It initially debuted with the Asha 311 and the other full touch Asha phones, now it has been rehauled with more UX elements from the N9’s Meego user interface, complete with the double tap to wake gesture and the minimalistic homescreen setup. The device sports a 3 inch QVGA screen with hardened glass and is powered by a 1 GHz processor.

Having repeatedly leaked on Twitter, one of them revealed its six colourful shells in a leak last night. The available colours, which are also replaceable shells, come in Bright Red, Lemon Yellow, Parrot Green, Ice Blue, White and Black. The device has 128 MB of internal memory and comes with a 4GB micro SD card out of the box, with options of expanding the memory upto 32 GB. It also comes in single SIM variant. Priced at $99 (~Rs. 5,347) without taxes and subsidies, it is expected to shipping in June 2013 from approximately 60 operators and distributors in more than 90 countries worldwide.

The Nokia Asha event at the Taj Palace hotel, New Delhi is about to get in full swing in a few moments, after which they might announce the Nokia Asha 501, which leaked last night, or may be more(?). Apparently, Nokia doesn’t want you to miss out on the action, so they have arranged for a live webcast on http://conversations.nokia.com. You can check out the post directly, if you want to, here. The live stream is scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m IST, with Nokia CEO Stephen Elop reportedly presiding over the keynote.

Nokia Asha 501 picture leaks out along with rumoured specs just before official announcement

While we were pondering on what Nokia has up its sleeve for tomorrow, Evleaks, the master of leaks has done it again and has leaked out the upcoming Asha device slated to be launched in New Delhi tomorrow. According to the leak, the device is known as the Nokia Asha 501, which marches into the 5-series territory currently occupied only by the Lumia in the form of 510 and 520. While the picture doesn’t say much about the device, we expect it to be in line with previous leaks from the same Evleaks. The Asha refresh is a long time coming and with an impending launch tomorrow at New Delhi, Nokia is all set to compete with the low end Android devices with a better experience squarely in aim.
