Nokia Lumia 620 Review

Since the Windows Phone 8 reboot, Nokia has so far launched five devices, with the Lumia 920 and the Lumia 820 launching way back in September 2012, then the Nokia Lumia 620 at LeWeb, and the Nokia Lumia 720 and Lumia 520 at the Mobile World Congress. The portfolio of devices cover almost all the price points of the market, and the Lumia 620 is in that special mid range segment. Same time last year, Nokia had the Lumia 610 as the predecessor to the 620, but the hardware was so lacking(with 256MB of RAM) and Windows Phone 7 was not really up to the mark in terms of market expectations. Fast forward to this year, Windows Phone 8 brings a lot of features and ticks check boxes of most requested features including Bluetooth file transfer, mass storage, support for micro SD cards, NFC tap to send etc and the hardware too has gained some decent specs, with respect to the Lumia 620. With all these specs and features backing it, will the Lumia 620 suffice a budget minded smartphone buyer in India? Read on to find out.

Lava has announced the Jelly Bean update for their Android smartphone, the Iris 501 (also known as Iris N501). It was launched earlier this year for Rs. 9,999, now the phone is available for Rs. 7,999. The Iris 501 runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), and company launched the Iris 502 recently for Rs. 8,499 that runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) out of the box, which is now available for Rs. 7,499. HTC One Benchmarks

HTC launched the HTC One, the company’s latest flagship Android smartphone in India earlier this week. We brought you the unboxing of the device last month. Here we have the benchmarks of the device. The HTC One has a 4.7 inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display, powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor clocked at 1.7 GHz with Adreno 320 GPU and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It out performs all the current quad-core smartphones in all the benchmarks.

Pulse News reader acquired by LinkedIn for $90 Million

LinkedIn, the world’s biggest online professional-networking service has acquired Pulse, a startup Pulse, a Newsreader and mobile content distribution. It had costed LinkedIn $90 million, and they would pay 90 percent in stock and 10 percent in cash for the application, which is owned by Alphonso Labs Inc, according to Bloomberg. Nokia Lumia 720 gets listed on Flipkart at Rs. 18999

Nokia launched the Lumia 720 in India last month along with the Lumia 520. The Lumia 520 went on sale from retail stores last week. Now, online retailer Flipkart has listed the Lumia 720 on their website for ~~Rs. 18,500~~ Rs. 18,999. The Lumia 720 was unveiled at the MWC 2013 last month along with the Lumia 520. It has a 4.3-inch (800 x 480 pixels) ClearBlack display, powered by a 1 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8227 processor and runs on the latest Windows Phone 8 OS. It has a 6.7-megapixel auto focus camera at the back with LED Flash, Carl Zeiss optics and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. Micromax Funbook Talk P360 went on sale online earlier this week for Rs. 7,049. Now the Micromax Funbook Talk P362 is up for sale from online reatiler Saholic in India. Even though it has a 7-inch (480 x 800 pixels) capacitive touch screen display and voice calling support through the SIM card slot, similar to the P360, it has a slightly better single-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). Other features are similar including a 2-megapixel rear camera, VGA front-facing camera, 1 GB RAM and a 3000 mAh battery. Airtel can continue 3G Intra-circle roaming, but cannot add new 3G customers in 7 circles, says SC

Supreme Court has ordered Bharti Airtel not to extend its 3G Intra-circle roaming services to new customers in the 7 circles, where it did not have licences for 3G spectrum, according to a report from The Economic Times. Airtel got a temporary relief earlier this week, when Supreme Court allowed them to continue their 3G intra-circle roaming till April 11th. Last month DoT had asked Bharti Airtel to stop 3G services in 7 circles and asked them to pay Rs. 350 crore (Rs. 50 crore per circle) for illegal roaming pact with Vodafone and Idea . Delhi High Court temporarily stalled the execution of DoT’s order until the final hearing, after Airtel appealed against it. Celkon launched the A119 Signature HD last month for Rs. 13,499. We brought you unboxing of the Celkon A119 earlier this week, here we have the benchmarks of the device. The Celkon A119 packs a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD display at 295 PPI, powered by a dual-core MediaTek MT6577 processor clocked at 1 GHz with PowerVR SGX 531 GPU and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). We reviewed the Xolo A1000 recently which has a similar processor and a HD display. Let’s see how the device performs in the benchmark tests.
