British Telecom is allegedly already in talks with UK network operator EE following the alleged approach by Telefonica to form a “strategic partnership” that would see BT buy the company’s UK operator O2. According to sources cited by Reuters, BT is currently in “early stage” talks with EE over a major deal which may yet present a challenge to Telefonica’s master plan. Uber has announced that it has expanded its service to Kochi in India. Uber is growing rapidly in India by adding new cities every few months. It was initially launched in India starting from Bangalore back in August 2013 and later expanded to New Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai and Pune. It was launched in Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh and Kolkata in India simultaneously back in August, earlier this year. UK operator BT is rumoured to be in talks to buy O2 UK with O2’s parent company Telefonica seeking a strategic partnership with BT that would see it sell its mobile network in return for a 20% stake. According to a report on El Confidencial, Telefonica’s CEO César Alierta is exploring the partnership with BT to create a European Giant and whilst talks are at an advanced stage, “there is nothing concrete yet”. Asus has launched the PadFone mini (PF400CG) in India. It has a 4-inch (800 x 480 pixels) smartphone that docks into a 7-inch (1280 x 800 pixels) Padfone station. It is powered by 1.6 GHz dual-core Intel Atom (Z2560) processor and runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8-megapixel rear camera without flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. At the Xiaomi Redmi Note launch event, the company has announced that the Redmi Note 4G would be launching in India soon. This has support for TD-LTE 2300MHz (Band 40) and FDD-LTE 1800MHz (Band 3) for India and is powered by a 1.6GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 SoC, instead of Octa-Core MediaTek chip in the 3G variant. This has single SIM support, unlike the dual SIM 3G variant. It comes pre-loaded with Fleksy and SwiftKey keyboards. Mi India announced the Redmi Note smartphone in India at the Mi 3 launch event back in July. Today at an event in Delhi, the company has announced that the smartphone would go on sale at Rs. 8999 on Flipkart starting December 2nd. It would be a flash sale similar to the Mi 3 and the Redmi 1S, and the registrations for the sale would begin tomorrow, November 25th at 6PM. This is Rs. 1,000 lesser than the price Xiaomi announced last month, just like it did for the Mi3 and the Redmi 1S smartphones. There is a separate chartered plane to bring Redmi Note units later this week. This is the fourth time the company is bringing units from China to India using a chartered plane. Apple announced the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 last month. It even announced the pricing for these models in India immediately after the announcement. Now both the tablets are available for pre-order from online retailers Flipkart and Infibeam. Flipkart would ship the tablet by the end of the month, which is next week and Infibeam would ship them on November 29th in all the metro cities. Electronic Arts has announced Need for Speed No Limits, the company’s upcoming game for mobile in the Need for Speed franchise. The Need for Speed Most Wanted game was launched back in October 2012. The game is being developed by Firemonkeys, the studio behind Real Racing 3 and would release in 2015. It promises fast driving and incredible graphics. Microsoft just sent out press invites for the Lumia 535 launch on November 26th. Microsoft will launch the Lumia 535 Dual SIM in India next week since it is listed on the official India website. It is not clear if the company plans to launch the single SIM variant as well in the country. It is the first smartphone under Microsoft Lumia brand.
